I'm not sure about the templates, but I can offer some advice on what NOT to do. I don't recognize what a gnvq is right off, so this advice may not apply ...
Please, for the love of God, do NOT include animated .gifs on every page.
For that sake of all that is good in this world, do not include the damn typewriter effect for the text and the corresponding sounds. It looses its novelty after the first slide, and then just becomes a PITA to sit through the animation.
Use the slides to only summarize your points - don't read word for word.
Those are my major annoyances with people giving presentations in a business / university level setting. You mentioned "younger students" at your school, so perhaps if it is the equivalent of American "High School", the audience might get a kick out of the animations and sounds. Most of it has to do with targeting your audience. For me I like clean, concise, and consistent. Diagrams are nice if they add content or summarize ideas. Pictures are ok if they are relevant.
