Hey, I have news for you guys: I've got some $4000 retail 366 based PCs I'm selling for $100 plus shipping. Get in line! What a deal! And grandma can use them, too!

Not a bad idea to give to Grandma with no computer and you can shrink up your pics and put them on floppy for her.
I haven't even owned a computer with a floppy drive installed for at least 5 years so Grandma's out of luck.

no floppy = bad policy IMO.

How can you say that? k00l people haven't had computers with a floppy drive since 1998 or maybe even 1997 or earlier Floppy drives are so 1996

I just saw some of the adapter prices....that allow you to use other forms of memory in a floppy drive. For the price of the adapter that only works with one card type, and this viewer, you might as well just buy the viewer that reads memory cards instead of floppies........
It's not worth the effort to back up pics to floppies unless:

1) You have a lot of floppies and a lot of free time.

2) You're definitely high on the list on Gramma's will....;)

1) Buy grandma a cheap $30-$35 DVD player that supports photo slideshows
2) Burn CD-R's and mail to grandma =)

That way grandma can watch DVDs too and enjoy those action movies like the Die Hard Trilogy that grandma loves so much. =)
And one day maybe you can send her DVD home movies you made with your DVD burner. Happiness for all.
Tek's right, folks. I picked up a AMW (ABit) DVD Player for $39.99 at Circuit City for my father-in-law. It plays DVD(+/-R/RW), VCD, SVCD, MP3, JPEG and Kodak Picture CD. The downside? It's not progressive scan, there's no on-unit display and it's only RCA out. Not bad for what it can play, however.

I'm curious, how do these "k00l people" load 3rd-party RAID storage controller drivers for WinNT/2K/XP, during a clean install, without a physical floppy drive hooked up? I still have my 3.5 installed, for just this reason.

If you're looking for one of these things that takes CF/SmartMedia, Radioshack recently devalued the TV Picshare (not the plus) to $0 and told the managers to get rid of them. If you can find some, the manager might just let you take them. They can junction as a picture viewer for any tv with RCA inputs or as a card reader for any PC with a USB port.

Cool concept, but I don't even have floppy drives in any of my rigs anymore :(

Anyone know of a version that uses Memory Sticks? My wife won't let me spring for one of the newer Wegas with that feature built in. I guess I need to spend more time trying to show her the advantages and benefits to a newer TV than the current one lol!

They could use a bootable USB HD (like the Lexar JumpDrive Pro I recently got for $30).

Let me look...

RS Number 160-3654. And it is only available in stores (and only if the managers haven't already gotten rid of all of them). Good luck!
