I saw this at the NEX (Navy Exchange) B&M on Green Bay Road near the Great Lakes base. No rebates or any other shenanigans, and of course tax exempt. Don't know how long the deal goes on for, or if it is available elsewhere. Looks like a pretty darn good price for MS Office. Of course military ID required to make the purchase.

Microsoft® Office Standard 2007 Military Appreciation Edition is $79.99 through AAFES.com as well. Free shipping, no tax.

For those too lazy to look it up, here's what's in Office 2007 Basic: Word, Excel, Outlook.

They'll probably have this for a good long while. They had the Military Appreciation Edition of Office 2003 for a long time at my exchange.

Many companies that allow their employees to telecommute have special employee benefits that include Microsoft software (through their institutional license) for basically shipping and handling. Federal government agencies, especially, offer this. MS Office Business Edition 2007 for cost of S&H, which was around $15. Obviously, license is limited to only one non-transferrable installation.

not hard to find someone in the military (and with military ID) who has ready access to a nearby NEX who can purchase said product for ya.

But wait... no PowerPoint? fail. That's also used commonly, sometimes more than Excel, for students and those in the military.
I only use Excel to maintain my 4-year schedule for school (for the Army even, not regular classes). I've used PowerPoint for presentations in two classes already. That trend was popular in high school too. Seems that do this on purpose to encourage purchase of the more expensive editions that include PowerPoint. Typical.

1. The one at AAFES.com has Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007 and Outlook 2007
2. Getting someone with an ID to buy things for you can result in that person losing his PX/commissary privileges for life.
3. It's not only people in the military who can purchase this. People in the military, people retired from the military, their spouses and ID carrying dependents, and any others who have PX/BX privileges.
