These statements make me laugh. I had a gamestop emplyee tell me that he "heard that MS will be bringing it back once they get the systems out". If MS wants to make money on this console, they have to sell it for the next 6-8 years. The install base will be quiet small after the first 1-2 years, so they wouldn't be dumb enough to just bring back all the stuff people hated. Console wars aren't "won" in the first 1-2 years after release.

You and I both have no idea who the next CEO is going to be. We also don't know who will be put in charge of the XBone division. Radical policy shifts might be demanded by the shareholders or expected to be dramatic by the next CEO. I'm not saying this will happen, I'm saying it's a real possibility as well for the failure of any system, not just the XBone. The policies don't even need to be the old ones for the XBone, they can be new stupid ones some idiot in management might dream up.

Just look at all the companies that have shot themselves in the foot with stupid changes trying to maximize profits. Hell, Netflix was going to piss all over their own brand by splitting the DVD and the streaming services and even renaming it.

I'm merely stating that a bad policy shift can change the scene much more than even the hardware can. Such as Nintendo's decision to go with carts and piss on their relationship with Sony which led us to the Playstation and history. The gaming and business world is filled with huge missteps.

I find it hard to believe people are still referring to the original Xbox and come 2014 even the 360 in any meaningful way. You walk into a store, you say "I need Battlefield 4 for Xbox", pretty sure people will know.
"Dude, remember Mass Effect 1 on Xbox?"
"KotoR on Xbox was one of the greatest games of the past 15 years."
"I'm getting a new Xbox."

I don't understand why people need to differentiate. Unless I'm trying to tell my wife which system to get out of the closet to give to our nephew. "You gave him WHICH Xbox?!"

Cause BF4 comes in two flavors... XBox 360 and Xbox One.

Why didn't they call it XBox 3?

Because 3 is less than 4 (which is what Sony is selling with the PS4). I know that sounds like a stupid reason, but consumers are morons. There is a reason we measure camera resolution in megapixels. Consumers have a hard time comparing multiple numbers; I am dead serious, there is market research on this. It was the same thing with the 360.

So 1 isn't less than 4 ? This post makes no sense.

I'm curious to see what happens with console sales.

This is the first generation I'm aware of where the gap between desktop PCs and consoles is so small at launch, both with price and performance.

I know I voted PC, upgraded my rig and I plan to wait for a while on the consoles.

One isn't the same as the a numbered system. It is like 'the one ring'. Consumers don't want an iterative numbered console that is less than another that is out at the same time.

Nope, still holding out hope it'll come out on next gen!
I know I'm like Homer in Flaming Moes, but they lost a customer not waiting until the new systems to release.

It should be coming on next gen, but I'd imagine they were already working on this title long before the Dev kits for the next gen were out. So, rather than delay (to a possible after holiday) and release it on next gen and current gen (and PC probably), they finished up what they had and can now port it.

Lol ok. I know I can't reason with people who make these kind of comments, but it is impossible for you to know how everyone will interperet the naming system. I personally think most people looking for consoles whether its for themselves or for their kids will know the difference.

It's One not 1. It's a small psychological thing but it changes people's perception a little. I don't think there's many people who think this is the first Xbox out there.

That's your interpretation. Someone just hearing "Xbox One" (pronounced the same as "Xbox 1"...) may not make that same distinction you just did.

I honestly think they could have called it Xbox Holla and everyone would know its the latest because the 360 has been out for such a long time.
