Received the new optical mouse shipped from Microsoft. Little surprising.

The mouse is new but it was manufactured 2002. USB1.1 🙁

I used the fax# and format by OP and fax them on 11/09. called them later and was told shippment in 1 week from their warehouse.

Thanks.

bumping this way old thread up w/ a question:

do microsoft keyboards fall under this policy? (couldnt find any info on msft's website).
same # if yes?

Thanks!

I sent a fax to MS on 11/22 and never have heard back. The info was complete and the photocopy was decent. I am going to resend.

Thx, Cyrax78.
But did they ever contact you after you sent in the request, and before they sent the mouse?
They have never answered my fax, and I am wondering whether I ought to sit tight, or if I should resend because I didn't hear from them.

You should definitely resubmit your request if you didn't get a confirmation e-mail message.

Yeah my question exactly. I have internet keyboard broken 2 week ago. I would like to see what they will do for it.
Call them and I bet they send you a new one! 😀

Despite all the negative stuff guys like to say about Microsoft, their customer support for hardware products is awesome. I got one of their original Explorer mice as a gift for Christmas a few years ago and I have had issues with it breaking and they have replaced it with a new mouse every time for free with no effort besides the phonecall on my part. The latest Explorer 3.0 they sent me has worked like a charm for several months and should it break you know I will be calling Microsoft again. 😉
Hey, i had the original intellimouse explorer, paid like 80 bucks for it back in the day....
Anyways, im havin some trouble locating the original intellimouse explorer on their warranty site:

My pid is: 51381-577-1167085-00000

Id like to get it replaced but not sure if im doing the steps correctly..

Thanks

The original intellimouse explorer has the lifetime warranty. You can go ahead adn submit and they should give you a new one. However, the replacement will be a later version with a limted warranty period.

when i did the search, it didnt accept my pid #, not sure the route i should take from here...

Anyone know the warranty info on the intellimouse explorer 3.0? MS doesn't seem to want to give up this information. 🙂

woohoo! never expected ANYTHING from microsoft to be this easy.
I sent a header with the info microsoft wanted and a copy of the bottom of my mouse to that fax, and voila, 2 days later i got a confirmation that they are processing the request!

thanks for gettin me a new mouse, when i would have otherwise thrown away..

My Wheelmouse Optical died not too long ago. The red LED would sometimes come on and then shut off and the cursor wouldn't move at all 🙁

I faxed my info to Microsoft since the mouse has a 5-year warranty, and I got a confirmation email today stating that I'd be sent a replacement soon 🙂

The bottom of my mouse's information is pretty much all unreadable, making it impossible to make out by eye let alone through a picture. Has anyone else had this problem and had Microsoft come through with replacing the mouse?

man for a thread to be around for over a year with almost 10K replies... it deserves a bump. great info too, i had two mice replaced a couple months ago because of this thread.

MS did this for me over a phone call. I had one of their first gen wireless optical mice, and it turned into a 5-minute battery incinerator

I did exactly what was instructed (two Microsoft's optical mice) last month but never got a confirmation letter from MS in my email's inbox and so, I phoned them. They then told me that they did not received anything from me and recommended to resend (fax) it again, which I did last week. I checked my email early today but still did not have a confirmation letter so I phoned MS again and told them the situation. They replied back stated that they still did not have anything from me yet but checked back next week. Is this deal dead now? Should I just quit faxing them the information and just simply sent it to them by mail instead? If so, does anybody have the MS' address?

i had no issues with the two ms intellimouse explorer 1.0s i had
called ms they shipped me two new ms explorer 3.0s without question

thanks for posting this
