It actually looks pretty good. The iPod is on its way out anyway as a 'fashion' item and people will start looking elsewhere fairly soon I think.

Keep in mind, when I say 'fashion' I am not referring to people in the demographic who would come to this forum. So let's just head that off right here and now. :p

I was reading about it yesterday on Engadget, looks nice but not sure about DRM on it and what formats for video and audio it'll support besides of course wmv and wma.

Apple should have come out with a widescreen iPod by now... people were really into
that photoshopped fake that was being passed around months a go.

If it's coded as good as Windows is, you can expect DRM cracks galore. I like it, 30 GB is enough for me. 3" widescreen is nice, too. I hope you can play codecs on it, instead of just WMV9. If the price is right, I might get one.

Nice screen, FM tuner and Wifi, looks good. I'd buy one, but I'll be sticking with my 30GB Dell DJ since I can't really justify buying a new device.

Looks good. Depending on the deal I can find, I'll probably grab one to finally replace my Creative Muvo.

I just like how it has the FM tuner that apple seems to hate.

I'll have to see pricing and compatability, and battery life before I'd consider it. At $250 the new improved iPod with video is a really good deal.

I'll probably just cheap out and get a new shuffle for light music needs though. I do video on my PSP, I like the option of having built in speakers instead of headphone only. Makes watching it at work in an empty store easier. (Gotta find something to keep yourself occupied when you don't have anyone in your store for hour + streches)

Well, I think I'll be getting one for sure. Now, I can't decide on white or black. That brown is HIDEOUS!

I'd get it before I'd get an iPod, but whether or not I'll consider it at all depends on price and file formats. I'm betting the price will be acceptable but file compatability won't be.

Try as they might, Apple and MS can't hold a candle to Creative in terms of features-to-price ratio.

Yet they still sell less audio players than Sandisk and Apple...

True. Which only proves the point that an average consumer is an uneducated sheep. Keeping up with the Jones' is the way of life.

Definitely a consideration, if it supports a large array of file formats and drm isn't too oppressive.

I don't give a fsck about the Jones'. I was using an MP3 CDplayer for a loong time, but it's kaput now :(. Switching CD's everytime was a bitch, too. So I want something that looks kind of nice and does what I want. The new iPods do that, but their horribly overpriced. DRM I can live with, I don't have any DRM'ed music, I rip all of my CD's myself. I only hope it will play XviD, DivX, H.264 etc. etc., I wanna see my family vacation videos encoded in H.264. :p

I'm sorry, as much as you Creative fanboyz like to brag about Creative, I think their mp3 players sucks. I'd buy an iriver, sandisk, samsung, ipod or any other player before I get a vision m or whatever else they sell. Their products always malfunction. Every single person who I know that has a Creatie player always bitches and complain about how many times they had to return it. And let's not forget how ugly their products are. i've been buying iriver ever since the days they used to manufacture for rio and i never had a problem with them, no matter how many times I dropped them. Maybe the reason why people don't buy Creative is because they don't sell "quality" products.

Some people will buy it for the express purpose of putting Linux on it. They won't care if it's actually useful to use Linux instead, or even if you can play music anymore on it, some people just like having Linux on every possible electronic device.

Why didn't they give it a video camera? I don't need another friggin' iPod wannabe, I want a multifunction device that captures video with a 30GB (or bigger) hard drive to store it on!

iRiver's players are much nicer from a design standpoint then Creative's DAPs; perhaps the only company that can compete with Apple in that regard.

Price will be the kicker for MS.
