I used MacWrite and MacWrite II on my old Mac Classic. They were published by Claris (bought out by Apple). Nowadays, most people use Word.

Appleworks. But word is better.

Isn't that an odd statement. You are using a software company and trying to find the same in a computer manufacturer, even though they do offer a fine program, not great but free. Do remember that Microsoft does make programs for both pc's and apple, and microsoft has never been stricitly a pc software house.

Most Macheads are anti-microsoft but use their software anyway (i.e. Word, Internet Explorer)...so I think that answers your question.

AppleWorks!

Its not bad software. For a while Apple would ship it for free with the computers. It has all the components that Office has. Office may have more features to it and such, but AppleWorks is a WHOLE lot less expensive. The newest version of AppleWorks has support for all the Office documents as well. Not too shabby for someone who doesn't wanna spend $400+ for word processing, etc. It doesn't really matter if you like Office or not, $400+ for it is pretty outrageous!

It's been said, but Appleworks. It's not as good now that Apple bought them out. I still use Clarisworks 5 on my G3.
