A spider falls into a 50 ft well
It climbs up 3 feet every day and slips 2 feet
How many days does it take for it to climb up?
Hint: Answer is not 50 days

What was the answer again?
I forgot
Sorry for the repost if it is

He's a dumbass....he should be able to make the climb in one day.

Should the answer not be 49 days if he starts climbing right away?

48 days.

At the end of day 47 the spider is three feet from the top of the well, on the 48th day he reaches the top and cannot slide down.

But, the arachnid, being near sighted, would finally spot the top of the well only a foot away at the end of the 47th day, so rather than rest for the night, his energy would be reinvigorated with the thought of finally escaping from the well and finding a mrs. spider so he could propogate the species (not to mention become a meal for mrs spider)

So what are you saying? Spiders only think about horny spider sex and getting eaten?

My reply to that would be at what rate is the spider ascending/descending. If it's only inches at a time it's much different than if it's a foot at a time.
