If you want the $15 just go back to BB. Purchase the mouse, pocket the rebate printout, walk to returns counter, tell them you changed your mind, credit the mouse back to your credit card. Mail in UPC and rebate receipt, walk away smiling knowing "you won!"

;)

People, people, we all want to save money, or get it for free; but "steal" is not right. Playing by rules, not bending them.

Ummm before you come riding in on your white horse throwing around terms like ?steal? perhaps you should go back and read the post to which I replied. no one is trying to ?steal? anything. BB came up with some BS rule that went against their own policy. You can either argue with them or do it my way and get the rebate you had coming and avoid ranting and raving with some drone manager.

tell the manager you want his manager. screw that sh!t seriously. you are entitled to your non-yellow receipt. you can get a rebate form from any cash register. if they give you problems, tell them you want them to call bestbuy's 800 number to obtain the true policy.

you need to raise hell, but *ALWAYS* be friendly, never be threatening, and never be cocky. when they try tell you they can't do something, just point out the pricematch policies - which don't state anything about denying rebate forms.

BB has terrible CSRs.

Took the BestBuy flyer to Staples to price match. The manager only wanted to price match the the price tag, but not the $15 mail-in rebate. I said, you'd PM a BestBuy coupon, and he agreed. I aksed them to give me a rebate form that I could mail-in, or they could not, to sell to me at the same net price. Manager said let me see if it is on the web page - think he meant a rebate form. Waited 10 miutes, while he disappeared in the back.

Fortunately I foolwed sage advice given above and was armed with a print out of the Staples PM policy. Getting pissed off waiting. Called the 800 staples customer support number from my cell, while still waiting. CSR said store mgr has the discretion to PM in the rebate situation. Just then mgr reappears. I told him I had CSR on the cell and he could speak with them. CSR said to me, "Look, if he won't, I'll PM it on an electronic order for you." Manger seemed dazed that I had 800 CSR on the phone. He irritatedly offered me the net price. I ended the call to the CSR and took the deal. The manger failed to 110% match just the 100% - this on the keyboard and mouse. I thanked him, let the coupla bucks slide and left feeling fine.

Got the keyboard and mouse for $10 each, not as good as the wizzards of free and money-in-the-pocket above, but I am happy enough. One more thing, the mgr insisted on keeping the flyer page "in case he got audited." Think he was just being spiteful.

no, the manager has to explain it to the higher powers that be - i think all stores do it. it's a hassle they don't like dealing with, they're always bitches out of sheer laziness.

they train the younger csr's to be dicks, and tell them to always say what they cannot do to discourage the less perservering --

It is simply.

You want BB's rebate, buy from BB, and then you get the rebate; you want MS's rebate, buy MS's product, and then you get the rebate. After you return and refund, you are NOT entitled to rebate.

The way you suggested, it could be a fraudulent submission; not a wise thing to do.

Some drone managers not follow company's rule, it is a separate issue; complaint to State Attorney if you want.

Not intend to create a debate, and I appolize for using a strong word "steal", sorry.

If you got each for $10, you got a better deal than us! I'm assuming you got both the rebate forms?

Does it say 1 rebate only? Are you guys who bought both going to send to another address, or send for both with 1 address/name?

Are we reading two different threads? He DID purchase the mouse from BB. Nobody is trying to buy something and return it and get a rebate for a product they did not purchase. The BB drone made up his own rule that he could not get the BB rebate despite buying it from BB just because he pricematched to Staples. The drone mangager took it upon him or her self to "steal" the receipt from the customer to keep them from obtaining a legitimate rebate. My method was and is a quick way to get back your rightfully obtained receipt in a quick and rather painless manner. Thanks, I am done with this topic.

OK.
Maybe I'm too dense. But I see on the OfficeMax flyer that the keyboard does not have a rebate. The MS keyboard Pro (higher price) has one for $10 but not the plain MS Internet keyboard.

Link to my staples keyboard

page.

i dunno why you are looking at other products.
BB has a rebate form which prints at register for both ms internet kb and ms optical scroll mouse.

pricematch after purchasing both at BB at full price, to the omax keyboard price and odepot mouse price to come out a winner or a weener.

best of luck!!!

peace awesome dude!

Not so fast... Page 11 of the OM sales flyer lists the sale period as: 1/5/03 - 1/11/03.
You still have today and tomorrow to get in on this deal (which I intend to do later today).
When you do your PM at a BB B&M, you need only show the OM sales flyer for this deal. ;)
To play it safe, I'll tack on a YMMV. :D

I got in on the mouse dealio... showed BB the OD flyer and the customer service lady already knew they had it for fourteen-something before I even showed her the ad... guess some AT'er was there before me... since I didn't PM at time of purchase I got the 110% difference the lady said... thanx for this dealio!

A couple of questions though:

1. do you need to cut the UPC from the box?
2. anyone else notice the optical mouse blue feels different in hand than optical wheel mouse? it feels smaller and like it fits in your palm better... but I thought they were the same mouse, just different color scheme and a fatter scroll wheel...
3. anyone have that m$ wireless keyboard and mouse package? It looks like the shiznit... for $59.99 you get both upper-range m$ wireless keyboard and mouse... I almost bought this but then thought about why in the world I would need a wireless keyboard... I don't surf from my sofa... I can see how a wireless mouse might be nice, but if you never intend to sit away from PC to type, I don't see
the use for wireless keyboard... and it's a drag to have to replace the batteries on them things...
