I know this is total BS because I can just move the error window to the side and keep browsing, so why does this useless window pop up forcing me to eventually restart IE, and is there any way to disable it?

IE sucks. :(

That happened to about every time I opened up IE on my old system. The illegal operation box would come up, I'd move it to the side, and keep on browsing :)

Oh, and it's not an ordinary "illegal operation crash" box, it's an IE generated window asking me to if I want to restart, or generate an error log to send to microsoft.

IE doesn't suck, it's just not well designed and each successive version gets more unstable..

hrm.. I've never ever seen that.

what version are you using anyway?

I use IE 5.01 and I haven't seen a more stable app since MS Notepad.exe. :Q well, it has crashed before on systems I've seen, but I take care of my win2k installation, I don't allow crashes, its simple as that. :D

I'm using 5.5, this error happens randomly about once a day while I'm surfing sites. Next time it appears I'll make sure to take a screenshot and post it.

Go back to 5.1. I'm still using it and I don't get any problems like that. I think 5.5 is close to ver. 6, so thats probably why your seeing it (the same thing happened to me when I had IE6).
