Hi guys, I know there've been quite a few threads regarding the different versions of the MS Intellimice, but I didn't find an answer to my question in those threads, so I'm making a new one. Hopefully it'll be of use to others as well...

Before I begin, I'd like to say that this is pertaining to the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical ONLY, and not the Intellimouse Explorer. I fully know that the Explorer 3.0 is the newest version...

Now that that's outta the way...I'd like to know what the difference between the Intellimouse Optical version 1.1 and version 1.1A? In specific, I'd like to know if version 1.1A scans 6000 times/second instead of 1500 times/second like the older versions. I know that version 1.1 scans 6000 times/second because I saw a retail box of it that claims just that, and has a sticker on it which said version 1.1. However, I also saw an OEM version with no box, that had the version 1.1A designation on the bottom of the mouse where the Intellieye is. I'm curious as to whether this version also sports a scanrate of 6000 times/second? I ask because the OEM version which I saw is significantly cheaper, but I'd only buy it if its the 6000 times/second version.

I did a bit of searching on the web regarding version 1.1A, and from the looks of it it seems that version 1.1A is an OEM only version, but the search wasn't conclusive about the scanrate...so I'd like to ask anyone who knows for sure of the various versions?

Thanks!

Well, I chose the OEM version, which had the 1.1A designation...I found out(I think) that this is simply the OEM version of the 1.1, and both have scanrates of 6000Hz.

However, I'm a bit disappointed by this mouse, perhaps because I'm too used to my previous mouse, and how well that one mated with my "mousepad". My previous mouse was a Logitech FirstMouse 3 button(no scroll, ordinary ball mouse), and I simply love its feel, weight, size, and the 2 Teflon-like super smooth surface that simply glides around effortlessly on my "mousepad", which is a simply 3 ring binder. Believe me while I haven't used a RatzPad, Everglide Giganta, func or other exotic mousepads, I can confidently say that it works wonders on this mouse. With the new mouse however, the 4 plastic feet of the mouse doesn't mate too well with my "mousepad", I believe its a bit too rough for its liking...perhaps I need to get another mousepad for it. Also, I'm not too used to the 2 extra buttons yet, but I guess as time goes by I'll get used to them.

Right now I'm using the Intellimouse Explorer for Windows navigation and my Logitech for gaming.
