I'm looking for the Wired version but not the one you linked to. Looking for the one in the pic I posted!

Here

Just letting you know, it took me 5 second to type "Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer w/ Tilt Wheel" into the buy.com search box and then click on the platinum link.

Yeah, I searched Microsoft's site as well and couldn't find it.

The reason I'm looking so hard is because in the new Maximum PC magazine they reviewed the mouse and gave it a perfect 10/10 and their "Kick Ass Product" award. The review states it uses the same 800 dpi optical sensor that the Logitech MX series use so I'm dying to get one ordered and try it out! I love the way that style mouse fits the hand but the wireless version is just unusable for gaming because of precision issues.

Thanks for the help!

Not really issues....its just less accurate. I've used them and they are not even close to the corded mice or Logitech MX mice.

That doesn't mean that this cordless mouse will NECESSARILY be as innacurate.. Let's hear some facts first, I'd say..

I'm at work and a bit busy right now but if you have time to a search and read the reviews....its been proven over and over and the optical rating between the mice is different as well I believe. The cordless version I believe is not 800dpi.

Replaced a MX500 with one of these. Sams CLub has them for $35! Can't beat that price for a wireles 800dpi mouse. I think that this mouse is slightly MORE accurate than the MX500. THe MIE also fits my hands, which the MX500 didn't. The scroll wheel on the MIE, however, does not click, making it way too sensitive.

pros: Faster, no wire, ergonomic, and designed for big hands.

cons: MUCH heavier because of the battery
Tilt wheel doesn't do much, and does nothing in games
the scroll wheel is too sensitive

I love my MX500, but that new mouse is pretty nice...however I would prefer the MX700 over it any day. I just simply like that wireless mouse better, as well as the charger. Its just a shame that I have absolutely no use for it :)

I have a wireless explorer 4.0 and the wireless keyboard that came with it. Should I keep them, or get a Logitech set? I haven't used them much, and the "shortcut" keys on the keyboard sometimes stop working until I reboot.

I suggest that you keep them, and contact Microsoft about the keyboard. You might need a RMA. Go to a local shop and see which one fits your hand better, the MX700 by Logitech or the MIE. I have had both, the MX500 (wired version of the 700) and the wireless MIE v 2.0, and they are nearly identical. The tiltwheel is the only difference other than the shape, and it doesn't do much. Maybe in the future you can use it in games to lean around a corner or something, but for now it is useless. THe wired mice are MUCH lighter than wireless, other than that get the one that best fits your hands.

I think I'll take it back. I like the lighter feel of my Explorer 3.0. Maybe I don't have a need for a wireless mouse as it just sits on my desk anyway. And I wouldn't have to buy batteries.

I'm also looking for this mouse. The IE 3.0 is the absolute best mouse I have ever used and would not trade it for anything (even the more expensive wireless logitech mice).

I don't want the wireless version due to them being, as someone else mentioned, MUCH heavier and this no doubt increases wrist strain and I don't want to even think of the long term effects. Thus I will stay with wired mice until a better option comes along.

After reading the article in MaximumPC I knew I had to have this mouse. Here is a clip from the article for those of you who doubt the existence of the wired version (or are just curious).

I saw them at office depot. (Corded and wireless)

I think the arch is way too high for comfort. It feels fine when you first put your hand on it, but it's not a natural curve. Too bad as I was looking forward to this mouse.
