Microsoft Grabbing Dollars Where They Can

MS is really starting to grab for every dollar they can.

I had a family plan account on my old bank account that was closed due to fraud.

My kids mostly play it, and I have not messed with it for a 7 or 8 months since I went back to school. A message popped up a few days ago that the account was suspended due to billing issues. I log in and see what the problem is. I found they had been trying to bill the closed bank account for 2 months.

They said I had a past due balance of $105, so I happily payed them thinking that would get the kids back online. After the transaction went through, they said I had to log in to pay again to restart my service. When I asked what I had just paid, and why I needed to pay again, they said it was back due balance due to billing a non existent the account from auto billing and a Live renewal.

They said that I was emailed a notice of the upcoming renewal in July. In April I had called because I no longer had the email address attached to the account. I had called over a password issue and informed them that I longer had the email address that the account was attached too, and was told they would change it.

When I asked support about this, they looked at the records and could see where I called about the password, but nothing else was documented. I asked then without a working email address, then how did I change my password. Their response was I should have changed it on the Xbox. Well hello, if they changed it to send me a password reset, why would I log on my Xbox to change it again. I was promptly informed that customer service could not change email addresses.

So now I need to find the TOS from when I originally upgraded to the family plan, and see if I need to call my bank if the charges are not legit.

End of rant.

Maybe you would have been better off just buying a prepaid card.

I had a hell of a time cancelling my gold account through them to get them to stop billing me.

That's what I had been using, making sure to them on sale for half price most of the time. It's when I wanted to up it the family plan I used my bank card for that one transaction and did not even think about it at the time.

Now they even killed the family plan, and want the full $60.00 a head.

For $240.00 a year for everyone, it is tempting to cancel the Xbox One and change over to the PS 4 or even back to a PS 3. I just too many games invested, in disks and downloadable.

Microsoft ranks somewhere between the IRS and pedophiles in terms of trustworthiness and being a good group to do business with. I have to support 200+ seats in an enterprise environment, and they are absolutely stunningly terrible at every level. They have a mixture of incompetence and arrogance overall that can't be beat.

So, you had a service that payment failed on and MS let you keep the service going but now is trying to bill you?

Yeah, it is a bit shady of them to keep your account up and continue trying to bill you.
