I don't know when the update I did last week was put out, MS wasn't notifying me there was an update, but I did it manually and it gave me a whole new build number of Windows 10. Any ways prior to this, when I'd search for a file, under the size settings "gigantic" has been 128 megabytes as long as I can remember. I know you could make it bigger with syntax, but that's extra hassle for me. So I go to search for a file today and I see gigantic's 4+ GB, huge is 1-4 and large is 128mb -1gb. The 128mb gigantic has annoyed me and made me laugh for ages now. I wondered if they even cared, I just assumed they would never change it.

Kudos Microsoft!

New build? Is 20H1 out yet? Hmm. Are you on a preview / advanced ring?

I don't think it's new new, I installed a random program that said my Windows needed to be updated. I just checked it's 1909, came out in November 2019 it looks like. I wonder what made MS decide to change the gigantic thing after forever lol. I have no idea why my system didn't notify me of a new version or whatever Windows is suppose to do when new builds of Windows 10 come out. I had been getting patches normal *shrug*

That's great they finally changed that!!

Maybe I am missing it but where can you specify which file size you're searching for in Win 10 again?

When you open a system explorer (Win+E) and type something in the search box more options pop up under the tool bar, the size one lets you pick a range. A useful feature, but wasn't with 128mb being gigantic. I remember when 128 was mind-blowingly gigantic, but that was uhh 30 years ago lol.

I never ever use Windows Explorer to search for files anymore. I did for years but started getting really frustrated at one point, looked for an alternative and found freebie Agent Ransack, which is still the one I use the most. Recently I started using Everything some of the time, another freebie.

They're slowly fixing/improving many bugs/annoyances, albeit also adding new ones.

At least, the new MSFT is actually listening and responding, unlike Balmer era where they were so (wrongly) proud and arrogant (ME, Vista, etc LOL).
Evident in VS Code, and the new Edge. They're keeping up with time!

I long MSFT, it's a forever company

I'm not crazy about them but I run them exclusively. I just bought an Android phone 'cause my Windows Phones are becoming useless except to make calls, get weather and GPS. Nobody develops for them anymore.

I use Windows on my PC's cause I have a few apps that won't run on Linux. I've never bought anything apple that didn't grow on a tree.

Windows phone ....
Is it the 40+MPixel Nokia?

True story: Years ago when chain restaurants started using apps, also when I was still working, my coworkers and I decided to try the then new Subway app. All of us got the orders correct, but one of the coworker. He had a Windows Phone. And the only Subway app available for his phone at the time, was for New Zealand...

PS: I'm far from MSFT exclusive user.
I've gone from OSX, to Buntu, and many other distros for work and home.
Also gone from iphone to LG, samsung and finally Google.
Honestly, I don't think it matters much anymore now.
Most devices have the same HW.
Most apps/SW have the same platform/foundation.
I just buy and use the cheapest high-end and most reliable UX ones.

~5 years ago I bought a Garmin GPS at Costco. Before opening the package I saw info here and someone told me I could buy a Nokia 520 Windows Phone for $60 that would do GPS just fine and without using data. That was 1/2 the price of the Garmin, so I brought that back unopened for a refund.

I upgraded to a Nokia 640 for $30! When its headphone jack stopped working I came here and people said get the Alcatel Idol 4S, which was on special from Microsoft for $100 and really is a high end smartphone... great screen, super sound. I still have it, it works fine, problem is MS has stopped supporting it and nobody writes apps for Windows Phone anymore.

I do Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9.0 programming, it's a full featured database development environment. I'm not doing it for employment anymore but I manage my own information using it. There's a platform called Wine that isn't MS sanctioned (not supposed to use it!) but it's said to enable use of VFP on Linux, but I've never tried it. I fear if I did I'd have issues! I have issues enough using Windows.

I have a few other apps that are Microsoft specific, a couple needing 32bit Windows, so I keep a Windows 10 32bit laptop for that occasional purpose. One's a legacy desktop publishing program, Pagemaker 6.5. It's the data that's the issue. I have hundreds of documents that I can reuse.

I also bought a Nokia smartphone for GPS reason.
It sat inside my cabinet for years before I decided to give it away.
Nokia map was the best then (iPhone was only at 2? And Samsung/LG offerings were just plastic crap full of bloats)

Wow ... I haven't heard anyone mention Visual Foxpro & Pagemaker in a long while ..

I thought I was the only dinosaur in the room, lost in the ocean of fortnite kids!

Nice chatting about the glorious Y2K past

Yup they've finally fixed the search indexing/superfetch/sysMain issue in this year's annual update. Personally, I haven't updated to it yet but will do so very soon.
