Microsoft Exchange Server question

Not sure if this goes in Software or Networking, but here goes:

In Microsoft Exchange 2002 we had a user setup with in the Active Users Directory that for some reason, blocked all mail sent from us to that user. (User outside of company)

I deleted the User from the Active Users Directory but on everyone's Outlook, his contact still exists under the Global Address List. How exactly do I go about deleting his username? I've looked in System Manager in Exchange and can't find out how to do that, and I've verified that he is in fact deleted from the Active Users Directory.

Thanks!

Melvin

(Sorry if it's in the wrong forum, it kinda borderlines on both)

did you set up a user or a contact. With Exchange 2000 and later you can set up a mail enabled contact in AD which is nothing more than an email address with no mailbox.

Exactly. I have a few outside users without an AD account but setup as a contact with email address. This is all done in the "Active Directory Users and Computers" mmc.

If you just did this today, a lot of times the mailbox management process and address book rebuilds don't happen until overnight, or sometimes once a week.

Go into System Manager adn to the Offline Address List and do a rebuild and see if that fixes it.

Note: Could take a few minutes if you have tons of users.

Like the above poster said, it's been anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 days from my experience. Do you have the Active Directory tool installed on the Exchange server?
