Microsoft Exchange 2003

i successfully installed ms exchange 2003 for testing purposes. i am currently using the domain i registered, which is just my full name .com. i am able to receive emails, however, when sending out the mail from exchange, the recipient's hosts (comcast, yahoo, etc) reads the mail as spam. it automaticaly places the mail in the spam folder. i highly doubt my domain name (my full name .com) is on a blacklist.

I had that problem when my HELO/EHLO didn't match the PTR record for my IP. This situation can arise if you're using a DSL line. Verizon Biz DSL won't modify the PTR record for me, so I had to work around.

Example: I have IP 4.4.4.4 for my domain, somedomain.com, but my ISP calls my IP 4-4-4-4.someisp.com. My HELO must announce my server as 4-4-4-4.someisp.com, not somedomain.com.

How you modify this in Exchange, I'm not sure. It doesn't look like there is an option in the SMTP connector for this. Microsoft may assume that you're using a connection for which you control the PTR record and that this feature wouldn't matter.

Personally, all email for my Exchange organization goes through a Linux-based Postfix server which allows me to customize what I need.

I used to have no problem either, but Hotmail/Yahoo/Whoever are always updating their anti-spam methods. I check about once every 3 months to make sure emails still go through ok.

Can you use your your ISP's SMTP with this? SMTP connector

Check if you've accidentally made yourself into an open relay. That will get you blacklisted automatically.
