Funny, but I suppose it's really nearly unavoidable. MS is just so huge with so many employees working on various pieces of software. That someone along the way used a warez program to create a few files is not surprising in the least.

Their Java sucks, their IE sucks even more. constant crash and their OS are basically trash. even a mac or appleIIe ran better then this~!

Why does everyone hate apple? (OS X is pretty good ;)) :( :p

And I think this is huge as well, their stance on piracy is well known, being caught with using warez really doesn't help their image.
because it sucks to be minority. being small just means that you will be picked on for life until much later that they all cease to exist, extinct like an ancient dinosaur. I dont hate apple but I do hate pc even thought I use pc exclusively :)
All the money I spent on pc could have bought me a very nice mac today called PowerPC G5 :D

I won't be upgrading or buying any more PC junk, low quality crap that belong in the trashcan even before it was bought. that fact that most people hate microsoft and love PC component is very contradicting. Their paying MS lots of money so their hardware cost less. MS funds Intel and AMD

Just because more people use PC does not make it better, people buy whatever is cheapest and usually cheapest is not good

I am usually the one that speaks up for the software pirate... I completely think piracy is great. But..

Just because MS was using a pirated crack, it does not mean for certain that MS was using an illegal copy. I have two legit licenses to Windows XP, but I run the pirated version because I don't have to call Microsoft and in all of my paranoia, I know that MS cannot track (single me out on) my pirated version since so many people use it. MS might call my copies illegal - but it is still considered an undetermined grey area of the law and MS does not decide the law.

The cracked version of Soundforge might be a way for Microsoft to hide who they contracted for the work. There could be other legit reasons for them to use a widely-pirated copy.

Something tells me that Soundforge probably did not include the fact that EVERY wave file edited would include the person's full name (if they registered truthfully) in their EULA. And, I doubt Microsoft would want the names of their programmers on each piece of Windows.

Also, the current software distribution system is a stupid piece of sh!t. Companies set deadlines in hours while it still takes days to order a piece of software - and local stores never seem to have the latest versions. So, lots of companies pirate the software and buy it at the same time. I'm sorry, but software should be treated like DATA that has absolutely no scarcity and not a physical object that has any variable costs. I doubt Microsoft would be found guilty of software piracy solely on the basis of using a Soundforge copy registered widely to pirates if it could show receipts for previously buying Soundforge.

Ya, Microsoft is an evil company and I would love to see it rot in hell. But, I'm not going to sacrifice my integrity and act like they should be held to the archaic strict bindings to which they try to hold others. Instead of going, "Oh look, MS is evil and here is proof and I'm gonna pirate everything and it's okay cause' MS does it!"... we should be saying, "Hey MS, it's pretty tough to follow your bindings, isn't it? How about you start reforming the whole software distribution system to be more in touch with the instant-delivery mechanism that is data today."

Yeah, they all have the Deepz0ne tag line at the bottom. You don't need a hex editor, the tag isn't coded. Notepad works fine.

You get props for having a hex editor installed anyway, no worries  I installed one last year just to change my start button to display my name :D Haven't used it since.

I don't agree that small=extinct... AMD has managed to survive and overall gain market share in the last 5-10 years, and I might be wrong, but I thought Apple has been in a healthy growth spirt while the rest of the PC market is going down a bit. (car companies like Porsche/Ferrari are actually very small compared to GM or Honda but they also seem to survive) Also who cares about being made fun of, how old are we here? :) Anyone who blindly makes fun of you for owning an AMD or Mac has no credibility anyways. :)

Also I do like the Mac i'm using, but I also own many PC's including a relatively new P4 and Athlon64. Both systems have served me well and I think it depends much more on which manufacturer you choose for your parts rather than whether or not it's a PC. Apple has had issues before, like the logic board issues with their older iBooks, not to mention current Apple's use a decent amount of PC hardware, like Graphics Cards, RAM and Hard Drives. Compatibility really isn't nearly the issue it used to be(especially if where you work or learn is using unix or linux, then OS X is actually MORE compatible than windows), you can pretty much get anything for your Mac system you want, assuming you aren't heavily into games :) In closing, yes MS sucks ;)

Owned! Haha. Makes me happy to be running a pirated copy of XP. Oh wait, I'm not :(

It's kind of funny that MS gets burned this way, but I wonder if there's going to be any legal implications to this...

Heh, whoever did the sound files though is going to get fired. I have no doubt that MS owns a copy of Soundforge 4.5. Would be funny if they didn't though.

I have no clue where you're getting the idea behind this statement.

I steal a TV from Bob.
You steal a TV from me.
I sue you for stealing my TV.
The legal ramifications of me stealing a TV from Bob impact the case against you...how?
