<< I wouldn't exactly call Apple a competitor to Microsoft. Apple sells like, what, 30 or 40 computers every year? >>

A little bit more, but thats about right. There are about 800-900 computers sold every year total in the home market.

<< No company lasts forever. Just as Microsoft will die eventually, so will Apple. Get over it.

hans007, Why does Apple have to do anything better? The fact some people prefer Apple/Macs over PCs should be a good enough reason for them to be alive and well. Its very similar to how I prefer a UNIX-like system to Windows. Is it better at everything? No. Is it better at anything? Maybe. Why use it? I like it better.

because if apple actually did something better they would be a "competitor" . who said a company cant last forever. last thing i knew colgate was still around making toothpaste. and ibm is like 60 years old or more

If they are still in business why do they need to be a "competitor"?

Forever is a lot longer than 60 years 😉

Off topic, but out of curiosity, what type of computers do you think MS uses at their offices? Dells? Gateways? Apples? A mixture of whatever? Or do they just read AT forums and build their own? 😉

They have to have some Apples since they are supposed to have the second largest Apple software development team, next to Apple itself.
