Wow, teh 2nd one is an hour long.

No kidding. I assume it'll be broken into 3-4 shorter spots (with parts cut out). It was better in the sense that at least it somewhat had a point and a (very limited) bit about computers.

I'm pretty sure these are going to be massive failures though and Microsoft will be left wondering why.

I actually wouldn't mind a TV show with those two in it. Throw Jay Leno in as well and have them do rich guy stuff.

Seinfeld was never funny, his show was fucking stupid and he makes me want to vomit.

Fixed.

"What is with all the Jerry Seinfeld?!" Srsly, he's not funny.

Edit: Second ad, much better. Much longer, though.

its funny that there's sooooo much talk about how its a stupid and pointless ad.

yet here we are....talking about it.

word of mouth marketing, for the win

Well, we're talking about it...but then what? Is Microsoft trying to market a product, or improve their image?
Everyone may be talking about it, but the general talk seems to be "I don't get it".

Not that I think the ads are pointless; I'm sure Microsoft spent good money and has a well defined goal and way to reach that goal. I'm just not sure what it is.

I think they do it just because they can... and love this line from the second ad

Kid "Wow, cool, when is this coming out???"
Bill "Never, and if someone ask you where you got it from, you don't know".

Thing is for all the mac commercial lovers... do they actually show/tell you the product is better? No... they just come up with a witty way of telling you how their competitor is worse/more complicated.

For these commercials to not say anything at all except hint on the future (meaning they will divulge later) is just on the same lines. Using 2 people (Jerry/Bill) compared to well 2 people... (mac guy/pc guy)... it's all the same message just outlayed in a different manner.

Yeah, I was just going to say that. It'll probably do better then if they tried to talk about a product.

They don't need to.

really gotta question the sense of humor if you don't find Seinfeld funny. Might be time to stop watching Ellen Degerneres or whoever it is thats "funny"

I think this was actually a really good idea...its not like a mac vs. pc commercial because people are actually gonna watch it to be like wtf...its just something so random that you have to see it...oh and its actually funny too

Seeing Jerry Seinfeld clip his toenails in a teenage girl's bedroom has inspired me to purchase Vista.

Did the advertisement have this effect on anyone else?

His stand up is horrible, but his show was amazing.

I love the show Seinfeld but I've never seen his stand up. These commercials make no sense.

Power Down-Power Up

Am I the only one who actually didn't mind the ad? I thought it had its moments.. Jesus Christ, lighten up. I never hear people criticize Apple's ads and usually they are fucking horrible. HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED MAYBE THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO BE HATERS, LIKE APPLE?

2nd ad's really pretty good. They're not Geico quality but they're definitely watchable. When Apple's come on, I space out or turn the channel. #1 complaint is probably length.

OK. I laughed at #2. The best part is when the kid and Bill are in front of the PC and the kid asks "Cool when is this coming out?" and Bill replies "Never!".
