Going to order a microSDHC card for my Optimus G Pro and was wondering how fast of a card I'd need to get.

I'm currently looking at a couple of the Samsung 32gb cards as I figure it'll be enough space for me. Not planning on putting a whole lot of video on the phone anyways.

These are the cards I'm looking at:

Samsung microSDHC Plus UHS-1 Class 10 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...irtualParent=1

Samsung microSDHC Pro UHS-1 Class 10 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...irtualParent=1

Anybody have experience with these cards?

Not sure about the write speed on the plus vs the pro. If it's night and day the pro might be worth the price difference.

Debating between the 32gb's and the 64gb pro version currently.

Thanks!

A class 6 is more than fast enough.

If you take raw bluray video, that's a maximum of 40mbps which is only 5MB/s. A class 6 has to do at least 6MB/s sequentially so that's more than enough for any regular video (which will be lower than that).

Actually the blue Class 6 32gb cards are faster than the orange Class 10 ones.

After reading your statement I searched for benchmarks on microSD cards. Few and far between.

Wound up ordering this one http://www.adorama.com/ISGMBMSBGBAM.html

From the review on Amazon it looks like it'll be good enough as far as speed goes.

Great choice. I have that exact card and it is faster than three class 10 32GB cards I have.

I would say its the best 32gb card you can buy.

For playing the videos generally speaking class 4 is fine (and probably class 2 is good enough in most cases). The bit rate for 1080p is around 7-10Mb/s (but it depends on the specific encoding). However copying that video to the sd card will be a lot faster with a class 6 or class 10 card (though one shoudl check the benchmarks - you want a card that is fast for large read/writes - small read/writes are not very relevant for video/photos). For my tablets/phone I tend to use slowish cards but for the camera I use something significantly faster (for fast burst rate).

Now I just need to wait for some more 64+GB cards to drop below $40 (I was able to grab a couple during blackfriday for $41).

I think samsung has addressed the random speed issue on plus (orange ) series cards.

I bought a samsung 16 GB class 10 Plus card and a Sandisk 16 gb Ultra UHS 1 Class 10 card yesterday, both are original (samsung made in korea Feb 2013, sandisk made in china Mar 2013). Tested them with my pc (XP ) with USB 2.0 several times and I got good results with Samsung. It is way betterthan sandisk ultra both in PC and Phone. I even tested them manually by transferring 2 gb of jpeg pictures and samsung was way faster.

Here are the results on PC

So I would like to say that Samsung plus series cards are very good and definitely way betterthan Sandisk counterparts. Also 10 year warranty of samsung vs 5 year warranty of sandisk (India)

I request you to post the crystal diskmark score of your 32 gb class 6 as I would like to purchase a 32 gb card.
