Microphone

I plug my mic in and i can hear my self talking threw the speakers but i can't get the computer to reconized the mic it will not record or i can't even talk to my friends I need some idea's

onbo Audio (VIA AC97 (WDM)
XP pro SP 2

Go into System Props and make sure that Sounds and Audio Devices Props are configed correctly. The Mic should be plugged in the Line In Input and then download some software for it like Freecorder
