im sure one of you fellow techies here can answer this without even thinking about it:

ok so my mom wants a wireless input into her old school LD/DVD kareoke (yeah i know its really old) and i was thinking hmm good x-mas present. i was messing the the thing and realized that the freakin mic in on her player doesnt work anymore. i found a couple of wireless mic setups (mic and receiver) but it connects to the karaoke via 1/4 mic jack. since i dont have a working mic jack, could i get a converter and plug it into RCA inputs OR line in 1/8 (like the one in back of computers)? if not, any suggestions short of buying another LD/DVD player?

and before you ask, nope, i dont know what model of wireless mic setup i want to get so im open to suggestions, but the only ones i see only connect via that 1/4 jack.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

well yes and no. you can plug it into those jacks, but there's no telling if it will work the way you want it to. for one thing, there will be no way to change the volume on it. for another, the machine may not be set up to combine the line in with whatever plays the kareoke discs. for yet another, chances are the line-in won't provide nearly enough amplification (i.e. NONE) to the mic signal, so you probably won't even hear anything unless you turn the volume to 10.

but yes, technically, you can plug it in and a signal will be sent to the line-in.
