Microphone doesn't pick up anything

I was able to use my microphone without problems with integrated sound. However, recently I purchased a Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit card, and now my microphone will not work. In Surround Mixer, I have Microphone set as the recording device. "Do Not Monitor" is unchecked, as well as "Digital Output Only." I know this microphone works because I've used it on my friends' computers. I am positive this isn't a volume issue as it is set to 100% with "+20dB gain" checked. I'm sure I've missed something, but Creative's support section doesn't cover this issue.

I don't know anything specifically about the SB Live, but make sure the card is also the default recording device in control panel- sounds and audio devices- audio. If that does not work, go to the hardware tab, go to the properties of each one of the devices associated with audio, go to the driver tab, then update the driver through Windows Update if you can. An alternative method is to simply go to creative's site and get the latest drivers there. Another thing that has fixed this issue with my past builds is disabling the integrated audio in the device manager. Go to control panel- system- hardware- device manager- sound, video, and game controllers- then right click on whatever the integrated audio is, and disable it. If you have additional questions, please ask.

I have a similar problem to this. My microphone will pick up a little bit of sound but I have to yell in the mic to get it to measure just a whisper.

I'm using a MSI K8N Diamond Plus with integrated Audigy audio.

Got the latest drivers from Creative & MSI. Didn't help.

I don't see an option for +20dB gain, anywhere though. Any way to force that?
