I made a search for this item on forums and couldn't find anything.
So I assume this is not repost.
I have no experience with this company and didn't order the stick.

I would stay away from this company. I can find no ratings on them. It looks like they are trying to trade off Buy.com's name.
 
Rating looks good to me. Actually to me it doesn't matter if this company was named BUYZ.COM or ONVIAS.COM or any other knock-off name as long as the prices are cheap and the ratings look good.
 
This price is ok,
this is generic memory (could be unknown pcb maker, unknown soldering process maker) using micron chips, not the one completely made by Micron that's called Crucial.
but Crucial is $103, also free shipping, lifetime warranty and guarantee to work in any system.
you decide which one to buy.
 
CS2 is better. Whether not worth the extra, I don't know. Most people can't tell the difference anyway.
 
i hear the difference between cas 2 and cas 3 is only about a 2-5% drop off in performance.. i'm not exactly sure what i'm talking about, and if some senior comp geek wants to crap on me, then oh well... but that's what someone told me.. it doesn't seem to be a big difference..
 
Just because it is cas 3 doesn't mean it won't do cas 2. I bought 256 micron memory about a month and a half ago and asked the guy if it was cas 2. The salesman had no idea what I was talking about but a tech overheard the conversation and said that he thought it was cas 2. Well I installed and bios detected it as cas 3. 🙁 I made a simple bios tweak and has been running happily at cas 2 ever since.

Remember it is guaranteed to run at cas 3. If you get it to run at cas 3 you just saved some money.
 
Can someone post a link to the memory for $103 at crucial (that is 100% compatible with everything)?

ok i want to cancel my order with z-buy and spend the extra $30 for the crucial, any suggestions on the best excuse for cancelling my order

i was thinking about telling them that the ram is not compatible with my motherboard...in case they ask does anyone know a mobo that would not support this ram ??

I concur. I have tried running system (512M PC133 Cas2 Ram) at CAS3 under win2k server and there's a very noticeable difference in speed. Ram is cheap nowadays so I wouldn't waste my money on CAS3s.

oldsmoboat: I have had 4/5 transactions with z-buy and I can vouch that their service is probably the best I've had with the "generic" online companies. My cd-rom went kaput, and they were quick with customer support and the RMA #.
 
I just received the memory the chips are micron on a generic pcb but the stick is damaged.
there is a small chip that is broken off in the bag.I called and had to leave a message on a answering machine. will keep you posted.I got to say this is the last time i buy from a
unknown retailer

It looks and sounds to me like this memory isn't even from Micron. Micron always puts their sticker on their memory. Maybe the reason they have such good customer service is because they have soooo many returns.

<< CL2 parts process data a little quicker than CL3 parts in that you have to wait one less clock cycle for the initial data. However, after the first piece of data is processed, the rest of the data is processed at equal speeds. Latency only affects the initial burst of data. Once data starts flowing, there is no effect. Bear in mind, a clock cycle for a PC100 module is 10 nanoseconds so you probably won't notice a significant performance difference. Most systems will accept either latency part. if you buy cas3 ram that is good nuf to do cas2 what do you have to do to make it do that? Also could anyone explain to a ram newbie what all the 2-2-2, 2-3-2, 2-2-3 shinanigins is all about?

A question about the first-time buyer, 15% discount at Crucial - is the only requirement is that you ARE employed, no matter the job? For instance, I work at a retail store that has nothing to do with computer hardware (though we do sell software). Is that okay? Because I fully well plan on buying some Crucial RAM sometime...
