Loads of people here to video editing and stuff like that. That requires:
- A decent video card
- A decent soundcard
- Loads of memory
- A fast harddisk
- A fast processor
Now if you have that anyway, why would you not use it for playing games too?

in a perfect world....😛 because some games only come out for consoles😛 and playing games with other people at your house doesn't work on pc. and a serious video editing pc costs over a 1000 dollars. i'm including a nice monitor and stuff, say no to emachines. pc's aren''t plug and play, many people have enough to do .. let alone setup a freakin pc and trouble shoot it when it goes haywire. software on pc is always behind the hardware for obvious reasons. console game makers dont' come out with new games that run at 8fps on the console😛 so yes, you dont'h ave to upgrade.

and yup, sonys a b@tch. their cameras are nice, but use lame ass proprietary memory stick. you get to pay for overpriced little memory sticks that have sh*t 128mb capacity when other formats like compact flash have massive 1GB+ flash cards. theres minidisc and sonys insistence that you reencode all your sh*t in attrac and not copy it over to another pc ever😛

The money you spend upgrading to play the latest games could probably be put into a new console to play that platform's game. All depends on which games you want to play and what platform they're on.
Also, I like to get away from the computer and sit down in front of the TV and play games. When you're on the computer for school/work/AT it's nice to get away.

Edit: alright, who made everything Italicized
Edit 2: n/m 😉
