nice deal! i'm curious to see how firmware updates would work with this -

these are the same as the a-data sandforce 1222 drives
currently there's a small bug that requires a firmware update
in order to do a FW update, you have to send it in to a-data
No, they publicly released a firmware update, that also works on the Microcenter-branded drives.

tempted to make my carpc a heck of a lot faster (bumpy truck rides can create nice long system lags when youre using spindle drives)

I have the Adata labeled version and it's been working great. Updated the firmware even though no issues were experienced. So far so good.🙂

I think on the way back from getting some stuff done, I'm going to pick one up today. I do get concerned from all of the comments I read with these Sandforce SSDs dying.

Hi,

You can download from Microcenter Tech Support web page the latest firmware== I called MC and was able to download the latest version and loaded it successfully. The update worked fine.

i actually ended up not picking this up. didnt' realize the 64GB sandforce drives had 13% reserve making these only 55gb.

my current SSD is a 64GB samsung and it has about 60GB formatted, and that was already a little cramped.... ended up buying a 90GB mushkin on ebay instead (i guess the newer sandforce drives only have 7% reserve....)
