Yeah shipping is high. You can however choose "in store pickup" and avoid the shipping costs (if you have a local MC).

I especially like the ones with no rebates (I hate rebates).

Maxtor 40 gig 7200 rpm, $59.99, NO REBATE

512 meg PC2100, $54.99, NO REBATE

You can also PM the 256mb Kbyte DDR Memory to Staples's SKU#489628.

Staples will add on shipping from MC's price ($3.49) so works out to $33.13 if PM successfully.

Staples had $30 rebate on the memory, so it's only $3.13 + your local tax.

hot damn, there is a local one around me (well, one within driving distance).

Still have to place the order online, but it certainly beats paying shipping!!! Got the 52X CDRW for $20 and the USB 2.0 Hub for $17 last go around. It took them 3 or 4 days to pull the order though b/c they were backordered.

Chiz

Edit: The 52X Burner was in the LAST 3-day sale about a month ago. Sorry for any confusion.

The joys of instore pickup!

🙂 Hopefully get some DDR for my parents and some USB cables for me, maybe even a hub. How long would I have to pick the stuff up (week before spring break = tests up the wazoo)

You get 48 hours after they send you the pickup confirmation.

I jumped in on the usb cables that I missed last time. You never know when you are going to need one or two of them.

Sweet, you can do in-store pickup? I'll have my friend get me a CF card while he's home...and I'm tempted to get some of the DDR too 🙂

IMHO, with the high shipping, this might be a better deal on the usb 2.0 cables:

CompGeeks has 10-foot long usb 2.0 cables for $1.13 (after 10% coupon code), item #USB2-10-AB.

The other day, I placed an order at compgeeks (I needed a couple modems for systems I'm building, and I like the Agere v.92 models), and decided to throw one of these in my shopping cart. When I did that, they offered me another one as a "geek special", for 95 cents. Too bad that when I tried to get just the special, by deleting the full priced cable, it deleted both, but what the heck, right?? 😉

Anyways, 2 ten foot usb 2.0 cables for $2.08 is pretty close to the price Microcenter has for two 6 foot cables, and Compgeeks $6 shipping (minimum) sure sounds a lot lower than what Microcenter is offering! 🙂
