Micro ATX vs. Mid-Tower

Hello,
I am currently working on pitting together a wish list for a new gaming rig. I am in the navy and going on deployment soon. Packing space is limited to a 20x20 box and a suitcase. Currently I am playing SW:TOR if that makes a difference. I have a basic set up in mind of an i5 2500 and GTX 560 Ti the rest depends on case more or less.

Get the smallest case the 560ti will fit into. Are you talking about the normal 560ti or the 448 core one?

the silverstone SG02 matx fits in my carry on (when I brought it home a week ago)... fits all standard parts(PSU, 2 DVD drive bays, 2 hdds), and you can put any GPU < 9.6"

only problem is that you cant find a good cpu cooler due to the design (PSU fan and cpu fan fights for airflow)

If you're deploying soon and can't take this with you...wait until you get back to build.
If you CAN take this with you...get a laptop and live with the reduced gaming capability.

Go with Shuttle SZ68R5. Compact, will easily fit a GTX 560 Ti, i7 CPU, Three hard drives or two hard drives and optical drive.

I have the SH67H3 of the same form factor, wish I had waited for the SZ68R5 but was only a pipe dream rumor at the time I bought the SH67H3.

Otherwise, yes Sager notebooks are great. Owned three of them. NP8662, NP8170, NP8130. The 17" can game like a sonofagun. The Radeon HD 6990m or nVidia 580 GTX are desktop-like components. You'll get about 2 hours of battery life for basic work, but plug it in and you can game like a sonofagun.

Personally if you're not going to be moving it around a lot, the Shuttle will be cheaper (by about half compared with a notebook) and more powerful. I upgraded to that same PSU that comes stock in the SZ68R5. I run an eVGA overclocked 460 GTX, i5-2400, 8GB DDR3 1333, 80GB Intel SSD, 1TB + 2TB hard drives. System draws about 300W full load, and the 500W PSU is very high quality too. They also have an accessory case cover with most the side as a mesh for improved airflow. It's not readily available online but I believe if you email or contact Shuttle they can have one special ordered for you. My CPU does not exceed 65C, GPU does not exceed 75C.
