Micro Advantage & Cendyne 4x DVD+/- DVD Burners $49 @ OM

The Office Max where I work had 3 Micro Advantages and 2 Cendynes left...these are different than the Cendyne's that were $49 a few weeks ago because these are dual format. I picked up two for $82 after tax and my discount...

Cedyne is an NEC. The store had 4 and 3 were 1300s and one was a 1100 so I left them with the 1100 and took the other 3. Awesome deal - Thanks!

"Are these $49 each out the door?"

Yes

"If so, which is the best one to get?"

I'd get the Cedyne. On the back it will say the model number.

The 1300 is like $89 at Newegg.

I also picked up the Lite-On LDW-411S on clearance at Office Depot for $59.

This is a beautiful world. Went to my local OM last night, 49.00 got me a BTC. Went back this morning and the day mgr(who is great to deal with) looked in the back and brought out a Cendyne - so I swapped out- the Cendyne is a 1300a, AND it rang up at 39.00, so I got 10.00 back.

Got last one at my local OM, it was a cendyne +/-. NEC1300a 39.00+tax out the door.

Yes, i said 39.00 🙂

Trying to find out before I go there what type of drive is the unit. Is there an easy way to tell without opening the box. Any help is would be wonderful.

Thanks for the info.

Went to the OM in Culver City, LA just now. Sticker on the back of the drive says Model Drive: ND-1300A, so you cal tell the model # without opening the box. I'm assuming this is the NEC 1300A. I got the last one and had to ask the guys working there to get it out of the back. $42.22 after tax. Great deal, thanks Manzelle.

i called one of my local OMs and they said Cendyne's out of business and they're pretty sure they sold the last one

I can verify that if the model # on the back of the cendyne box says ND-1300A its the NEC 4x +/-
so sweet for 39.00!!!!

Is the Cendyne (NEC 1100) a good drive/

Can someone email me a copy of their receipt, the local OM still has it in their system at $49, I bought it anyway since it was the only one but would like to get it for $39 😀

Dude it's $39. Even if you only make one copy of an expensive DVD and throw it away............

If you missed out on this deal, you shouldn't feel too bad. I bought a Cendyne (NEC) ND-1100A a couple of weeks ago during the last big clearance sale. If I'm not mistaken, it's nearly identical to the ND-1300A, so I assume that the performance (not media compatibility) is about the same. The ND-1100A is SLOW, and it is not a good all-purpose drive. The maximum CD writing speed is 16x, and the maximum CD rewriting speed is 10x. If you plan to do a lot of CD burning, you need to have a decent CD burner in addition to the Cendyne DVD burner (which I have). I've also had some problems simply READING data. So it looks like if you want to do a lot of fast, reliable DVD ripping, you need to have a decent DVD-ROM drive in addition to the Cendyne DVD burner. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't want three CD/DVD drives in my computer, so there's a trade-off, and I don't like it.

I intend to sell my ND-1100A and replace it with a nice 8x dual-format drive a few weeks from now. I think one of those would perform a lot better, and since prices are dropping so fast, I think one of those would be a much better value. I had to jump through hoops to find the ND-1100A at a store (here's a tip: the good stuff is not on shelves; you have to ask an employee to retrieve one for you from the back), and I doubt that finding a good 8x dual-format DVD+/-RW drive at a great price will prove any more difficult.

Good luck to you!

the cendyne's are OOS at the cypress, ca location. CSR said they sold out within 1hr of opening this morning. he mentioned the "internet knew about this deal" lol
