They can fence themselves in but they cannot fence the larger world out. But one more victory for la la land denial.

I don't see the problem. Bands have been denied for all sorts of things all over the world from performing in certain cities and places. Its a Christian college and its their right to stand up for what they believe. They are no dumber or smarter than any atheist.

Wow. I was talking to a coworker about the concert series at Calvin last week. He went to undergrad there, and was surprised by the diversity of groups that have played there.

While there, he saw a bunch of groups, including Dave Matthews Band. Even back then, there was tension between the student group wanting to play mainstream acts and the Board of Trustees/Alumni Association.

There have list of acts that have played over the years, including the Barenaked Ladies. The New Pornographers haven't been removed from the list, yet.

So is the WORD pornography offensive, or actual pornography? What if The Killers wanted to play? I assume they wouldn't be allowed to since Christians are against killing.

Dumb college can do what they want of course, but they're still dumb.

Actually if you break down their beliefs, such as 2 of every animal being herded onto a wooden ship...they do seem kind of silly. And that is just the tip of the iceberg as far as myths go.

No, not those kind.

This must've been the same school that wanted to ban Shakespeare because of it's sexual innuendo, and the Oxford dictionary because it had a definition of oral sex in it.

Big news at Calvin in recent years was the decision to locate an animal testing facility on campus, built and paid for by Spectrum Health.

The Dutch-Reformed-Calvinist worldview:

Undergraduates staffing vivisection labs = good.

Band having naughtyword name = bad.

Yea true, lol.

Like coming man from a monkey or ape. I be like why didn't the rest of them change, they should have gotten an email in todays world.

But hey we do have the factual big-bang theory that explains it all in perfect sense.

They're presented as theories. Creation, as outlined in the Bible and other sacred texts, is presented as fact.

You can't defend silly stories such as Noah's Ark, so you deflect. Gotcha.

Good for them. If they feel that the band would be a bad influence, I see no problem with them banning it. It is a private college.
