Completely agree. Plus, some are saying "innocent until proven guilty," but what else would he be taking in a SECRET COMPARTMENT IN A WATER BOTTLE?!?!

He's an idiot, and a terrible QB. It's stuff like this that confirm my suspicion that he is not smart enough for the position. He doesn't go through his progressions well, and frequently finds one or two receivers to throw to.

Caruso: Looks like quarterback <puts on sunglasses> couldn't find the open man.

Supposdly it was a bong. There was not much (if any) actual weed in it. There was only resin and other substances left over that made it stink. It's dumb enough to try and smuggle your own weed. It's even dumber to smuggle a friggin bong!!! What is this guys problem? Are there no potatoes, apples, soda cans, TP roles, water bottles, etc. where he is going? It's not that hard to build a quick bong. Moron!

AJC - Probe could take months

Falcons quarterback Michael Vick could be deep in the two-a-days of summer camp before there is any word about what was in the water bottle confiscated from him at Miami International Airport on Wednesday.

The bottle contained a secret compartment that allegedly held "a dark particulate," according to the police report. It said the substance smelled like marijuana.

The bottle was taken to the Miami-Dade Police Department crime lab. Police spokesman Robert Williams said Thursday it could take months before it is analyzed.

"In the big scheme of things, as far as MDPD is concerned, that's not a major case," Williams said. "We have homicides and sexual batteries and other things that are probably going to take precedence, so that's going to be months down the road."

The Falcons are aware of the incident involving their star player, who is playing under an NFL-high $130 million contract.

"We understand there have been reports of an alleged incident involving Michael Vick that took place earlier [Wednesday] at Miami International Airport. We plan to look into this matter and discuss it further with Michael before having any further comment," Reggie Roberts, the Falcons' vice president of football communications said late Wednesday night.

Vick was not arrested and caught his morning flight to Atlanta, where he spent part of the day at the team's Flowery Branch headquarters. He was scheduled to meet new coach Bobby Petrino for the first time, but it was cancelled because Petrino had another appointment. Vick did speak with some members of the coaching staff.

The Falcons were unaware of the airport incident until late Wednesday night, Roberts said.

Vick could not be reached for comment.

According to the police report, Vick drew suspicion when he refused to part with a bottle of water at a security-screening checkpoint. Bottled liquids of more than 3 ounces have been prohibited at most U.S. airports for months for security reasons.

Vick eventually threw the bottle in a waste container but his initial reluctance caused TSA official Gertrude Joseph to examine the bottle, described as a 20-ounce Aquafina bottle. Joseph then notified her supervisor of a hidden compartment in the bottle.

Fellow TSA screeners said they saw Vick throw the bottle into the container, which surveillance cameras confirmed, according to the police report.

"The top half contained a small amount of clear liquid. When held upright the bottle appeared to be half full of water," according to the police report.

If Vick is found to be involved in any wrongdoing, he could face legal repercussions as well as discipline from the NFL.

League spokesman Greg Aiello said that the NFL was not aware of the incident at Miami International Airport involving Vick as of Wednesday night, so there would be no comment from the league office at that time.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has taken a very harsh stance against negative off-field behavior and explained his position regarding the league's image to Falcons players after a practice he attended late this season.

Vick was fined $10,000 by the NFL and agreed to donate an additional $10,000 to charity after making an obscene gesture toward fans at the Georgia Dome following a 31-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 26.

This incident could bring further scrutiny on the Falcons' most scrutinized player, who last season threw for a career-high 20 touchdowns and became the first NFL quarterback to rush for more than 1,000 yards but also failed to get the Falcons, who finished 7-9, to the playoffs for the second straight season.

The Falcons have remained committed to Vick, with team president and general manager Rich McKay saying Wednesday morning that Vick is the team's starting quarterback, despite speculation that backup Matt Schaub could compete for the job.

Staff writer Mike Morris contributed to this report.

Lab tests indicate substance in bottle was not illegal
Falcons star Michael Vick will not be charged with wrongdoing after tests indicated that a substance in a water bottle he tried to carry through Miami airport security last week was not illegal, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Vick will be cleared by the Miami-Dade Police Department in an announcement that could come Monday, the person said. Attempts to reach Miami police for comment Sunday evening were unsuccessful.

Falcons spokesman Reggie Roberts said the team would not comment on the situation Sunday. Messages left with Vick's agent, Joel Segal, were not returned Sunday evening.

ESPN reported Sunday night on its Web site that Vick would be "exonerated" in the incident. The network cited anonymous NFL sources.

The "Aquafina" water bottle the quarterback tried to carry through security at Miami International Airport on Wednesday drew suspicion after TSA security officers found a hidden compartment that contained "a small amount of dark particulate and a pungent aroma closely associated with marijuana," according to a police report.

It was not clear Sunday night what the substance turned out to be.

Vick, who has been selected to three Pro Bowls and whose $130 million contract makes him football's highest-paid player, could be spared discipline from the NFL since there would be nothing linking him to anything illegal.

After a meeting Thursday that owner Arthur Blank, new head coach Bobby Petrino and general manager Rich McKay had with Vick, McKay had said internal discipline could be forthcoming.

By NFL rules, if a player is involved in an incident that draws suspicion of drugs, that player could be subject to being placed in the substance abuse program and random drug testing. League spokesman Greg Aiello said Friday that the NFL office was aware of the situation and was looking into it. He declined further comment.

The bottle police said Vick was carrying Wednesday could hold up to 20 ounces of liquid. Federal laws prohibit carrying liquids in containers of more than 3 ounces through security or onto airplanes.

Vick initially did not want to part with the bottle. After a conversation with a TSA agent at a security checkpoint, he eventually threw the bottle into a waste container. He was not arrested and caught his AirTran flight to Atlanta, where he arrived without incident and went on to meet with members of the Falcons' coaching staff.

After Vick passed through the security checkpoint, the security agent retrieved the bottle and showed it to her supervisor, who then turned the bottle over to Miami-Dade police, according to the police report.

On Friday, Miami police said analyzing the bottle was a low priority for a busy, big-city department and that the process could take weeks.

The recent episode cast Vick into a negative light after a string of incidents over the past two seasons that included him making an obscene gesture to fans at the Georgia Dome after a loss to the New Orleans Saints in November. The NFL fined him $10,000 and ordered him to donate another $10,000 to charity.

A popular yet often critizicized player, Vick is coming off a season in which he became the first NFL quarterback to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season. He also threw a career-high 20 touchdown passes. However, the Falcons finished 7-9 and failed to make the playoffs for a second straight season. Coach Jim Mora was fired.

So what was the substance?

That's what I'm wondering. I can't think of too many legitimate reasons why you'd be carrying around a water bottle with a secret compartment...

And he was reluctant to give up the water bottle at the airport.....seems strange.

yeah with something that smelled like Marijuana

Marijuana must be illegal because Christians don't like it. The reason they don't like it is because marijuana makes baby Jesus cry. And every time baby Jesus cries one less Christian is allowed in the Kingdom of Heaven. If you smoke marijuana, you are irreversibly hurting Christianity. Shame on you!

i thought mike vick was baby jesus 🙁

And just like that, the story changes. Link. Everything is still up in the air.

The Miami-Dade Police Department said Monday it has not received the test results from a water bottle Michael Vick tried to carry through airport security last week that prompted an investigation.

"We haven't gotten any confirmation as of yet," police detective Alvarez Zabaleta told the Journal-Constitution. "We've contacted the right people at the lab, but there are not any results of the test yet. We're getting a lot of calls ... but any results would come from our department.

"We don't have any results of the test. We are waiting to get an update. We don't have any confirmations as of yet."

A person with the knowledge of the situation told the AJC Sunday that Vick would be not be charged in connection with the incident that occurred Wednesday at the Miami International Airport and that the substance found was not illegal. Vick drew suspicion after TSA security officers found a hidden compartment that contained "a small amount of dark particulate and a pungent aroma closely associated with marijuana," according to a police report.

A spokesman for State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle told the Associated Press Monday that investigators had not made a recommendation on whether to prosecute. "It has not reached us," spokesman Ed Griffith said.

"At this time we have nothing confirmed. We haven't done anything as of yet," Zabaleta said Monday.

You know what would be really funny, is if there was a linebacker named Bong that sacked Vick.

Then they could say Vick got a hit from (the) Bong.

You mean you wrote that and it didn't immediately occur to you how stupid you sound so you continued?

Guess when the story ends up not going the way that's fun and popular.....that is, criticizing someone, it just isn't news.

Michael Vick was cleared by police Monday of any wrongdoing at a Miami airport, four days after the Falcons general manager said the star quarterback had "let a lot of people down."

Vick's water bottle was seized by security at Miami International Airport last Wednesday. Police said it smelled of marijuana and had a hidden compartment that contained a "small amount of dark particulate."

Lab tests found no evidence of drugs, according to a memo by Deisy Rodriguez, an assistant state attorney in Florida. She said the bottle no longer is considered evidence in an investigation.

So, now that Vick had NO drugs in that bottle, any takers on taking back whatever drivel you spwered..........like hdeck's "how pathetic can he be?" or Mill's calling Vick a total idiot ..."How hard is it for his dumbass to buy weed from a dealer when he gets to where he is going? What a moron trying to take it through security. What's he trying to do, save 20-30 bucks here and there? Total idiot. If I was Petrino I'd beat him in the face with shovel for being so stupid."

Guess not......we'll never see those who can blast someone baselessly or hanging someone and crucifying that person, all but calling that person guilty without a trial or even evidence, ever come back and retract their baseless statements or even apologize.

Yeah, dumbass, because people carry around water bottles with secret compartments all the time for their Grandmother's heart medicine.

Secondly, he IS a dumbass, because liquids have been banned for months now, and it is only plastered all over the airport and news. I guess you are ghetto-fab like him, and don't believe in keeping up with silly things like government policies or major terror cases.

Furthermore, the TSA screeners SMELLED marijuana, tne original story didn't say there was no marijuana there. It said there was a substance that smelled like marijuana. Yeah, I'm a total asshole for assuming a dark particulate, in a secret compartment, that smells like marijuana is actually just bunghole hair. The articles, for days, assumed that there was. Blame the media, blame you jerk-off buddy Vick, but don't blame me for going by what the article said.

Trying to take a water bottle (that is banned) through security with a secret compartment (again, I doubt he had grannie's heart medicine in there normally), and then refusing to throw it away is STUPID behavior. Petrino should hit him in the face with a shovel, and you should go back and read the thread.
