screw ancestors, we need descendants...Phelps and Coughlin need to make super swimming babies to carry on the US dominance in the pool.

Looks aside, kinda think that's a low blow. Does anyone else find him a bit annoying, or at least the coverage? I guess it's cause I've always been one to cheer the underdog in any competition. when someone comes to dominate anything I start to dislike them and wish someone else would win. After a while everything they do starts to make them look full of themselves even if they are not, I really don't think he is but I can't escape the feeling none the less.

Course when you have 7 or 8 gold medals that kind of speaks for itself I guess. So long as he doesn't get caught doping. I'm surprised no one has started such a rumour. True or not after this many winds you'd think someone would raise the issue. They did with Lance Armstrong.

We're sure to get a silver or gold in female wrestling, so pfft!!!:p

Canada put downs aside we really should be doing better in these Olympics though. Unless things don't improve dramatically I'm sure it's an issue you will see raised in the Globe and Mail after the Olympics at some point.

Here's hoping our Vancouver 2010 games don't suck. That would be embarrassing.

If you surrender before the match, do you still get silver?

It can be worse then our no-gold appearance in calgary 88'

Things aren't as bad as it may look at first glance. We're gearing for the next Olympics and seeing a lot of new Canadian records so our young athletes are progressing.

Don't Canadians make a strong showing in Winter Olympics?

That's true. I've been saying for ages that Canada shouldn't even be allowed in the Summer Olympics, seeing as how they don't actually have a summer.

I'm sure you're not the only that gets this type of feeling (I surely have in certain non-Olympic sports), but from the perspective of the Olympics, it's quite sad. For me, the more dominant the Americans are, the better. I love the fact that Phelps is dominating the competition. I wish we could put the hammer down in every Olympic Sport.

Why not? Watching competition is great and all, but in the end, you want your country to dominate, don't you? Or do you not really care about the Olympics? It's all about watching the best athletes represent your country. And if that means the best athletes are better than well, everybody, at everything they do... what's the harm?
I followed Phelps every race, and absolutely loved watching him win each race he was in.
And hell, it's not even just about watching only US Olympians. I enjoyed watching Coventry win, because she's crazy sweet to. But, I'd rather have seen a US Olympian win instead of Coventry, but when it's someone who is consistently great and at the top of their game, they deserve it.

He's Canadian, he has nothing to be happy about this year.
