As with Nobel, Oscar continually cheapens itself year by year (not that the bar was ever really all that high). I suspect within a few years they will be giving Islamic extremists Oscars for a 'documentary' depicting the 'bravery' of the 'martyrs' who fought the Great Evil Infidel by crashing airliners into the WTC.

They already gave Arafat a Nobel Prize. Only a matter of time before Osama is given some kind of award by America's leftist whackos.

Though people may not agree with his had to say, nevertheless it took a great amount of courage to say those words in front of millions of people (most of them probably wanted to kill him by now).

And to those who said the film is fake, what evidence do you have that says its fake? (I'm not saying this in an offensive way, I just want to know).

Yes, I'm sure all of your beliefs and opinions are the DEFINITION of legitimacy.

Screw courage.

It was an incrediblely inappropriate time to speak about his beliefs. He does enough of that in his movies, he should've just been grateful, thanked who he felt deserved it and stepped off the stage. It's not a time to push your agenda.

the problem is his confused facts and his condescending attitude. He discredits his own stance by behaving the way he does (plus the blatant inability to write coherently), and he discredits those with legitimate and consistent claims as well.
Everybody else realized that the awards were for celebration and should be a time to band together for a commonly held goal of swift resolution, instead Moore disrespects the US President, the Academy and his fellow filmmakers and actors.

I don't have to stoop to lies and distortion to get my points across.

yep. i agree.

I think the attitude is more that no one cares what his fat ass thinks. Just because you make a movie and some people like it doesn't mean they care what your political views are. Same with actor James Cromwell on the news this morning, same with the Dixie Chicks. Just dance rummies, don't talk.

(Freedom of Speech says they can say whatever they want... but then that's just what I'm doing too).

nothing about being a patriot but bowling for columbine is about as factual as an episode of survivor.

Nobody is saying 'screw Michael Moore for having beliefs', they are saying 'screw Michael Moore for his beliefs'.

But it does raise the point that just because one can do something never invariably means one should do it. The issue isn't the 'can', but the 'should'.

Does that make any sense to that pea brain of yours?

good for him. i think we should start supporting our president who is the leader of our country, instead of making comments like this. the war has already started...
...but yea, i'm against violence, but it's too late for a nonviolent solution...

I like how when confronted with actuall facts (and the fact that his claims were just plain wrong) He rebuted "since when is entertainment supposed to be factual"

What a tool

I don't know what he said, but Bowling for Columbine was a terrible movie. I couldn't even finish watching it. He was incredibly selective in what he showed to make sure that it fit his point of view. He didn't give anywhere close to the whole story. I could make a documentary just like his where I portray Dogs as vicious animals and tell people they are fools for allowing them into their homes. All I have to do is interview people who have been bitten by dogs and find towns where there is an unusually large number of dog related injuries. Then I will tease them for awhile at a shelter and record them barking at me wanting to tear my head off. That's what he did in Bowling for Columbine :(
