While I lost my illusions about Jordan a while ago I have to take this with a grain of salt. Perhaps some guy who got dissed (possibly) by Jordan and who writes for some paper nobody has ever heard of (at least not outside washington) isn't the most reputable source. If this had come out of the Post or something it would be different but considering the source I have to question it.

Edit: the fact that this article was written almost a year and a half after is suposedly happened doesn't speak much for it's credibility either.

NO, he took MARKETING of the game to another level. the level of play has not improved.

you take a lakers team of the 80's or a celtics team of the early 80's and no one today could match up.

Jordans contribution was on the BUSINESS side NOT on the sports side.

but even that W/o Magic and Bird Jordan would never have been more than a blip.

i look at jordan realistically and that makes me a hater in the eye's of fanboi's like you. no big deal.

Who gives a crap if this article is made up.
MJ is a ball hog.
I'd much rather see a team player than a ball hog.
He ball hogged when he was on the wizards. He sucked.
MJ this MJ that... he's way overhyped... especially after retiring and coming back several times.

Ok, so the greatest player ever would have been nothing if he'd not had other great players before him? Interesting take. I'd ask how you came to that conclusion but I'm sure the answer would give me and all others capable of rational thought a headache.

His play on the court has absolutely nothing to do with this article. If you want to talk about his selfish play start another thread because it's completely irrelevant to his off the court activities.

About Wilt...Any 7 foot guy is going to dominate against a league of 6 foot guys that can't jump. Still not seeing how Will is the greatest to ever play the game.

MJ story was false.

MJ is the greatest. Doesn't matter if he's a moron or an angel.

hahahahaha

stupid moron.

bill russel was NOT 6'.

btw, if it's just about height, why didn't ralph sampson, or Shawn Bradely or Minute Bol dominate?? huh??

Wilt could take a STANDING JUMP from the free throw line and DUNK the ball, do you have ANY conception of what kind of coordination and PURE athleticism that requires. Dr. J? M J? forget about it, they had to take a RUNNING jump there is a very big difference.

only a moron would just attribute it to size.

Bill Russel, George Mikan both 6'10". Dave Cowens 6'9", Nate Thurmand 6'11"

hmmm, couple of inches, ya, that was the only thing that made Wilt great.

No, but if MJ is also 7'1" , with that kind of skill level, who on earth could have stopped him?
Wilt was helped by the fact that he soared over most of the player of his era. Besides, we talking two different eras here. 80-90s player are much faster, taller and stronger than in the 60-70s. If you put MJ during Wilt's era, he probably would dominate it as well. But since we can never compare them in the same situation, I simply contend with the fact that they're both great player.

IF Steve Francis or Allen Iverson were 7'1" with the same skill level as now, they would BOTH dominate MJ at any point in his career, SO WHAT.

IF IF IF Yao over the summer really improved his conditioning, IF all of a sudden Yao became very athletic, IF yao developed a real low post game and NEXT season had a MIRACULOUS 50 ppg 20 rpg season (Wilt at his best), would their be ANY doubt in your mind as to the greatness of such a player?

Wilt HAD MJ type athleticism at 7'2", ONE MORE TIME, HE COULD FREAKING BROAD JUMP FROM THE FREE THROW LINE AND DUNK THE BALL. HE would dominate NO MATTER WHICH ERA OF bball your talking about.

I don't know that MJ could.

This is too funny!

We have folks arguing about two great athletes. But what they're also doing is putting them on a pedestal.

Who cares if a guy can play basketball? If he's a bad person, he's a bad person.

The girl's one god damn hoe! You know she slept with Jordan. Which woman wouldn't go after a money bags? It's their personality. I'm sure if that guy was rich and famous he'd do the same. He'd go after all these women too.

I agree, a bad person is a bad person. OJ is a bad person, he is also STILL in my mind one of the greatest running backs ever.

By the same logic, a good athlete is a good athlete NO matter what kind of person he is.

I made that point with Barry bonds, people hate him because of his arrogance or whatever, to me he's a great baseball player and his arrogance is an entirely different issue.

I acknowledge and always have acknowledged MJ as one of the top 5 players of all time, but if i were starting a team today he might be my 3rd or 4th pick. without question i'd take Wilt and Magic before i take MJ.

I don't think Mike is a bad person. Everyone here is saying he's bad because of this "story".

Yes, LeeTJ, Mike is one of the greatest players ever. Even if he gambled, quit and came back (twice), slept with some girl while he was going through a divorce. I could pick many other good/great players who set a worse example.

I say Fvck him anybody that would act like that in my opinion is freaking asshole.
They're may be worse but, that is no why to try and defend someones actions.

But, screw that girl too, she is a slut for buying that crap.

Dangit! I still don't know what changes came about because of Wilt. The only thing I can think of is that Lee keeps mentioning how Wilt could stand at the line and jump and dunk, so did players used to be able to jump when shooting free throws?

Or am I thinking too hard. I'm thinking that you mean a rule(s) was changed because of him. Do you simply mean the way the game was played was altered as a result of Wilt, and not a rule change? (a la Shaq attack...no rules broken/changed but definately a change in the way the game was played)

Story's not real.

got proof ?

Got proof it is? I don't believe everything I read on the web. It doesn't matter either way. I wasn't there and I don't personally know MJ. It doesn't make a difference to me what kind of a person he is. It doesn't change the way I view him as a player.

Wow you guys a freaking retards.

1. Do you believe everything you read in the paper? Sheep

2. MJ DID Revolutionize the game. Here's the deal LeeTJ, Are we supposed to believe some ATOT Moron who wants to Diss MJ Out of some jealousy because he totally owned the game. Or can We believe just about EVERY basketball player on this planet that says MJ was the best basketball player they have every seen. You never noticed your favorite player Kobe Bryant is a MJ Fanboy himself? Him, Iverson, McGrady - ALL IDOLIZE MJ. Most of the older players also tell that MJ is the greatest player they have seen. Now this is coming from PROFESSIONALS WHO PLAY THE GAME. So I think I'll believe the MILLIONS of people who consider him to be the single greatest NBA player of all time, vs a hater on AT.

BallHog or not, MJ has SIX Championship rings. How many other NBA greats lead their team to 6 NBA Championships. You can call him names, but the man got the job done.

Don't be a hater...just love the game.

In all honesty I don't believe they all idolize MJ, They might say he's the greatest possibly due to their reputation being tarnished.

BTW, i said he was a top 5 player, most people don't consider that hating. it's just fanboi's like you can't stand it when anyone labels any legitimate criticisms against MJ.

besides, most of my posts were about WILTS Excellence not about how bad MJ was.

And MJ DIDN'T revolutionize the game. HE changed the way that the NBA WAS MARKETED but THAT'S NOT THE GAME. that's the NBA.

NBA doesn't allow their young players to criticize MJ because of what it would do to the image.

Once again, the most telling thing this off season is the FIRING of MJ by the wizards. that's how well the other players REALLY liked him even tho they may not say it publically.
