Yep, I just started Timeline a few days ago and it's one of the best book's I've read. Granted I'm only half way through, but it's really good. :D I've also read Jurassic Park twice.

Question was the 13th warrior a book by him or just a script? The movie kinda sucked...

The book was based on a 10th century Arabic manuscript.

That's what the books original name was, it has been changed since. But the book was actually based on an old arabic manuscript.

Which was fake, invented by Crichton. You've been Blair-Witched :)

Andromeda Strain was a great movie, never read the book. JP was very good as both book and movie.

Timeline was seriously a terrible terrible book. It started pretty promising but turned into a stuipd swash-buckling robin-hood adventure. WTF was that about? No offense but I find it weird that so many of you think that it was one of Chriton's best books. Granted his books are never supposed to be read as literary masterpieces but his earlier novels had way more depth and character development. Timeline was terrible compared to them on any level. Once they hit medival times, the book was all down-hill. Sorry, real lame book.

Can't comment on Prey yet as I'm waiting for my brother to finish it so I can borrow it from him.

Aparently Gerard Butler will be playing Mareck (I for some reason always pictured Heath Ledger in that role)

Cast:
Gerard Butler - André Marek
Paul Walker (fast and the furious) - Chris Hughes
Ethan Embry - David Stern
Frances O'Connor - Kate Erickson
Billy Connolly - Edward Johnston
David Thewlis - Robert Doniger
Anna Friel Lady - Claire
Rossif Sutherland - François
Neal McDonough - Sir Guy de Malegant
Michael Sheen - Lord Oliver
Lambert Wilson - Lord Arnaut
Matt Craven - Kramer
Marton Csokas - Robert Dekere
David LaHaye - Arnaut's Deputy

Actually Eaters of the Dead just pretended to be based on a 10th century Arabic manuscript. Crichton is truly one of the greatest bullsh!ters ever.
In addition to the other mentioned, I've always enjoyed Airframe. I wonder why they never made that one into a movie. Too brutally honest about the media, I guess ;) :p

Airframe was good, though it was a bit too much like disclosure.

I really like him as an author too. In fact I did a paper on him in college. Quite an interesting history.

Also, I got a chance to converse with him one time via snail mail. So if anyone is interested in his mail address, I can pass it along. Just PM me. And please be sure that once you get the address you don't pester him to death. :)

He'd kill me if he found out I passed out his snail mail addy. :D

Ahh... but Disclosure was a damn good movie. :D
I even bought the DVD (though only because my GF is in it, on camera, as an extra).

edit: who here remembers (or ever knew) that Digicom was a real company? :p

I've read Jurassic Park and Sphere and those were very good books. I also read Timeline. I don't know what it was about that book but I really, really didn't like it. It was way too cheesy, I thought.

To each his own, I guess.

The book Andromeda Strain ( i got it right here) is way better than the movie. More taught and way more conspiracy theory oriented. I consider it a modern classic (1969). You almost think that it is really happening.

Yep, and they made modems in real life AND in the book! Funny...
Alright... alright. I thought they made CD-ROMs in the book though
Anyway, they got bought by Supra who got bought by DiamondMM who got bought by S3 who got bought by VIA and then spun off as SonicBlue.
