Mic Properties Keeps Muting Itself

I use ventrilio and i can't hear myself nor can others hear me. I went to properties and raised the mic volume, but every time I save it keeps muting by itself every time. There are two microphones shown in the recording devices setting, so I'm assuming its the two mic jack from desktop. It works when I apply the settings and when it's open, but when I press ok. It doesn't save the settings. Need help.
