Mic for gaming

Whats the best desktop mic for gaming? I have a 6.3mm(1/4") mic port on my soundcard(asus xonar STX)

Looking to spend under $50

I do have some good headphones but my gaming time is spent about 60/40 split with headphones and bookshelf speakers, which is why i was looking for a desktop mic so i could use it when not wearing my headphones.

I have a pair of custom made IEM's (silicone in-ear monitors, made to fit my ears perfectly) and I use them with TS, piping the voice into my ear and using my Corsair HS1A headset for game audio.

This thread is exactly what I was looking for.

Does that Zalman clip-on pick up a lot of external audio? I more often than not prefer to play games using my 5.1 system so if it picks up a lot of that then it might not be right for me.

I used to use a Zalman clip-on mic, but it wasn't very good.

The zalman clip on was complete and utter shit. I just bought a webcam and use it as a USB mic.

This is exactly what I'm doing right now. I just use the built-in mic in my Logitech webcam. It works surprisingly well.
