I have a audigy 2 ZS but I imagine this would stay the same

See here

The checkbox "Select" under mic should be checked.

Your imagination will fail you.

This card is a POS. As good as reviews say it is, Creative can't even get the basics straight. I just went over to their support forums and they're ignoring the microphone problems! Audigy 2 ZS you just plug it in and the mic works.

Right now my mic works in Vent and TS2, but only in ENTERTAINMENT mode. Game mode doesnt work. Plus I keep hearing myself through the speakers. @#@#!!#

Look around a bit more in the modes. There should be something that says Digital I/O. Go there and you can switch between mic/digital.

In game mode on the 'Mixer' tab you can click on the Microphone arrow to open a drop down menu.. from there it should be self explanatory. GL on your 'POS' card.

I have an X-Fi and mic works fine under Vent, I'm using the port in the 5.25" unit though.
Have you tried just using the recorder app to see if it's working in there?
Making the mic work in Vent was a pain in the ass, just making it work was easy though.

Short answer:
BS, RTFM

Long answer:
X-Fi stores settings separately for each mode.
You need to once select mic and not digital i/o in a mode that you want to use.

If you are hearing yourself thru loudspeakers you have a tick set under microphone slider in playback section. In creative or windows mixer, whatever you use. So take it away.

It is very good and flexible piece if hardware. I like it a lot.

I see that you all use a special program that I do not have since I have no installation CD. All I have is the Creative Audio Console and that does not give me any options after I change modes. I just tried the latest drivers (beta, Web update 3) and the older ones (web update 2) and NONE of them come with the software...
