Mic boost disappeared.

Hey all,

My mic boost option seemed to have disappeared. I'm looking to get it back. I figured if I can find out what sound device I have in my computer then I can download the drivers from the manufacturer. Here's the deal. I cannot open my computer bec. it is such in a tight space and have to pretty much re-arrange my furniture to get it out.

Is there software that will actually detect the exact audio card that I have? Is there another option to bring mic boost back?

Thnaks!

Belarc Advisor will work, as well. http://www.belarc.com/Programs/advisor.exe

Did you look in Device Manager?

Also, you can click Start...then click Run...then type in "dxdiag" (without quotes) and click OK. That's DirectX's diagnostics.

Also, in XP, the System Information tool

Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools Click the "System Information" link.

Is your computer a "name brand" computer?

If so, you might need to deal with them for drivers.
