Eastern Conference Finals: Heat/Nets, with Miami advancing to the Finals

beware of jason williams and antoine walker's turnovers.

krstic looking to have an huge improvement from his rookie year. he might be pouring in at least 20ppg against heat. he scored 16ppg against them last year in playoffs despite scoring just 10ppg in regular season.

nets advancing to the finals.

having a bunch of money players doesn't mean it'll make a great team. walker and j-will are both streaky shooters, and shaq has a huge ego.

the Heat were one of the top FG% shooting teams in the NBA:

Damon Jones: 45% FG 43% TP
Eddie Jones: 43% FG 37% TP

now they have:

Jason Williams: 41% FG 32% TP
James Posey: 36% FG 31% TP
Antoine Walker: 41% FG 31% TP

These moves are not good for the Heat.

White Chocolate is one of the most inconsistent PG's in the league: he makes terrible shot choices and turns the ball over constantly. I can't wait to see Shaq's expression when he's got position in the low post and J-Will hucks up some fade away from 30.

Antoine Walker is fvcking terrible too. He's only good if he's chucking up 20+ shots a game, and even then it's a crap shoot. With Shaq and D.wade on the same team he's not going to be getting enough shots to be effective. Actually if he stays on the bench - which he probably will - he can't hurt them too bad. On defense, he's probably one of the worst in the league at his position.

Then again what do I care. I'm a long-suffering Jailblazers fan.

i heard that Van Exel and Derek Anderson were just released from Portland.

i'm hoping the Pistons look at Van Exel as a 1/2 guard off the bench. his scoring would be an awesome weapon for the Pistons.

You forget the impact of Shaq down low.. Damon Jones has been on how many teams the past 5 years? 10???
Eddie Jones choked whenever given the chance to shine.
The Heat have MASSIVELY upgraded their team, hell I would have traded Jones straight up for Posey.

i completely agree that Shaq gives perimeter guys open looks. however, Damon Jones has a 38% career three point percentage.

you ask how many teams has Damon been on? Walker's been on 4 different teams in teh past 4 years. Boston's traded him away TWICE.

IMO, none of the guys Miami picked up are winners. i'm still not sold on this trade pushing Miami over top as championship team.

eh, Posey might start with Toine coming off the bench. (didnt work in dallas). they lost damon jones (5th in 3pt % and their PG). jason williams demands a lot of shots and isnt the best. on paper, it looks nice to have all these names, we gotta wait and see if it works.

edit: i'm a nets fan. 🙂

i agree... on paper its nice but so was the lakers a 2 years ago (payton, kobe, devean george/rick fox, malone, shaq) and we all know what happened to them... also look at the Mavs when they had that star-studded roster and how far they got...

Eddie Jones really stepped it up in the playoffs and its a shame to see him go even though him and shaq didnt really get along too well.
Damon Jones is a HUGE loss. he was an avg PG and an awesome 3pt shooter... williams might not fit that well cause he is more of a shoot first kinda PG... i think its gonna be tough to keep everyone happy on this team....

everyone's stats go up with Shaq as center. Riley and Co. have a way with player personalities fitting in. When Zo was picked up last season word around town was how was he going to "fit" in with Shaq's team. We all saw Zo bring excitement and toughness to the games. Walker and Williams will get there act together this season. And you'll see both players %'s shoot up.

*I hope.

hmmm Miami's chemistry just tanked.

I dont see them getting out of the 2nd round.

same thing was said when Zo was on his way to Miami...and look how that turned out.

Fact is Riley and Co. do a good job with player personalities...when Odom was going to Miami everyone said he was a cancer...Odom was a poster child as a Heat and we were sad to see him go. Same things were said with Hardaway, Rafer Alston and Damon Jones. Walker and Williams will finally get there act together as Heat players and Posey is just as good or better then Eddie Jones. The Heat team has upgraded this offseason. Anything but a finals appearance would be a dissapointment.

I don't believe 'Antoine Walker' and 'NBA Champion' belong in the same sentence.

Even w/ just 1 arm, he'd still hoist up more 3's (and miss more, as usual) than anyone else in the league.
