Yeah, no problem. Lets all get out our wallets and help pay for the medical & education etc expenses.
Maybe we should just put all our money into boxes and ship it down to Central & South America. It's not fair that they too geographicaly disadvantaged to benefit from our largess in supporting citizens of other countries. We all know that there are none here that need any help.

Mexican politicians are making a fuss because it is now domestically good policy there to support illegal aliens. Aliens after all send millions (billions?) back to Mexico each year.
Small border incursions among non warring states happen like this somewhat regularly. A few months ago there was an "uproar" among the Minutemen types when some Mexican Federales or some-such drove several hundred feet/yards into the US to do something. I forget exactly what they were doing but I'm pretty sure they weren't apprehending border crossers. :laugh:

To OrByte: Hmmmm... Your slippery slope comment puzzled me for a while. But I think I see why you say that. Mostly, this issue frustrates me. The hubris and comments from the Mexican government about our immigration policy (especially considering their own) anger me. My comments about shipping our money down to the lower countries who don't share our borders was mostly sarcasm borne of frustration.
To Rainsford: The border affects me like the ole Chinese Water torture thingy. It's one frickin drop after another. What you call a disproportionate response is the culmination of so many drops. As a person who has emigrated to other countries (and foreign born wife emigrated here) I dont feel it's as hard a problem to solve as many try to make out. Control of one's own borders is a very fundamental responsibility of a government. I'm disapointed and angry at our government on so many aspects & levels on this issue I generally can't bear to watch TV news on this subject. At least here I can post & vent a bit.

According to CNN the workers themselves crossed the border, not the fence. This is a stupid overreaction on Mexico's part. They are crying because a few people actually walked across the imaginary line, and came back, completely ignoring the fact that they are bleeding people across said line.
