I've got $20 to throw in.

Why is everybody so fvcking sensitive? There is nothing racial about any of these terms.
Mexican - somebody from mexico.
Chinese - somebody from china.
etc...
It would be like getting offended by calling an american and american... WTF it is stupid.

Illegal Mexicans ... well I have no use for them whatsoever. They should round them all up and their Illegal children and herd them all back to their gang ridden drug pushing country where they belong.

The reason they get no respect, They sneak over the border take advantage of our generosity demand this and that and then wonder why everybody hates them so much.

Why do I have to choose between english and spanish at the ATM etc ...?

from super troppers:

Police Chief Grady: I will have the enchilada platter with two tacos and no guacamoles. Smy?
Officer Smy: Yeah, chief. I'll have a CHINCHILLA!
Rabbit: I don't get it. Tacos?
Thorny: They think I'm Mexican.
Rabbit: You're not Mexican?

i feel like there's a bit of negativity associated with this term.

i do use the word once in awhile since i feel it's less offensive than saying the short brown dude.

let me clarify. i didn't mean that it was a racist term, but definitely one with negativity associated with it because there's so much anti-illegal immigration sentiment in this country.

SO MUCH?!?

I sometimes think I am the only person who doesnt want 11 million illegals running around.

Mexican is a racist term.

Only if you put the word filthy in front of it. 😛

Seriously though, Mexican simply means that someone is from Mexico...nothing more. Same as Spaniard means someone who is from Spain or German means someone who is from Germany.

I heard it was from crossing the Rio Grande, but I don't know.

wiki'd it and you are correct.

beautiful ray of sunshine is a pejorative term for a person of Mexican decent. It applies to Mexicans who have crossed the border illegally, but it is applicable to all Latinos. The term originated with Mexicans that entered Texas from Mexico by crossing the Rio Grande,[1] presumably by swimming or wading across and getting his or her back wet in the process.
