Now Obama is married to this POS and even his supporters are embarrassed, well the ones who any shame.

Obama parading this guy onto the floor of Congress and allowing him to lambaste state laws is just sickening. Reasonable people can debate the law, but this is just sickening. Anyone who thinks this was proper to do is not right in the head. Another PR loser for Obama; add it to the list.

Despite my general dislike of how this administration has turned out I thought that Obama was smarter than to have this nut in tow.

The obvious plan was to try to turn the AZ situation around because instead of him controlling the situation, the situation is dictating his course and that is something no politician wants.

Instead it is as if the Reps had paid this guy to submarine everything Obama might do and got it in spades. As I said elsewhere his is a two class society that makes anything that AZ might conceivably do to illegals seem positively philanthropic. His main argument is effectively "We screw our own people over so badly, how can you be so cruel as to want to send them back".

I'd love to see commercials of Dems applauding him demanding a ban on assault weapons. Could make the smack down of 94 look like childs play.

Excellent idea. I can see how they could use this whole america bashing tour against Obama very well.

The NRA should send this man a thank you gift basket. They will be using that speech to collect donations for months.

Is Calderon trying to steal some of Chavez's thunder over here or what?

I know you get more flies with honey, but giving Mexico and it's nutty, hypocritical leadership the limelight on this issue is sooooo fvcking wrong. Mexico needs to STFU yesterday. Can you imagine the response from Mexicans if Bush or Obama had gone south and criticized Mexican drug enforcement or immigration policy?

Nick nailed it, it is sickening.

Maybe he ought to fix some of the problems with his shitty country first before telling the hope and failure to change administration what to do.

Maxico has an almost complete firearms ban already.

How's that working out for you Mexico?

Some countries in Europe force a large chunk of their citizens to own assault rifles and they do not have these problems.

(not saying that mandatory gun ownership is the solution)

Myth: The United States is the source of 90% of drug syndicate guns in Mexico

Fact: This is an often misquoted data point from the BATFE, who said 90% of the
firearms that have been interdicted in transport to Mexico or recovered in Mexico came
from the United States. Thus the 90% number includes only the firearms American and
Mexican police stop in transport.70

Fact: The original number was derived from the number of firearms successfully traced,
not the total number of firearms. For 2007-2008, Mexican officials recovered
approximately 29,000 firearms from crime scenes and asked for BATFE traces of 11,000.
Of those, the BATFE could trace roughly 6,000 of which 5,114 were confirmed to have
come from the United States. Thus, 83% of the crime guns recovered in Mexico have not
been or cannot be traced to America.71

Fact: Mexican drug syndicates can buy guns anywhere. For the relatively underpowered
civilian rifles coming from the United States, drug runners would pay between 300% and
400% above the market price. Thus they can and are buying guns around the world.72

Fact: Mexican drug cartels – with a $40 billion in annual revenues – have military
armament that includes hand grenades, grenade launchers, armor-piercing munitions,
antitank rockets and assault rifles smuggled from Central American countries.73 These
are infantry weapons bought from around the world and not civilian “assault weapon”
rifles from the United States.

It seems to me Democrats are doing everything they can to lose the elections this year... Why is Obama all of a sudden intentionally taking unpopular positions?

his positions have been unpopular for quite some time, in fact i think it started when he made his "anti US european apology tour" for most, it is just now you who thought he was something special are seeing him for the truth he is. welcome to the enlightened side :)

I'll admit that I voted for Obama and "liked" him on Facebook. After today I am disgusted, ashamed, and apoplectic that this boot licking wimp is our president.

He should have sent Calderon packing, telling him to fix his own country up before criticizing ours.

I will NOT vote for Obama 2012 and I WILL be voting Republican in CT this year, unless the Dems find a better candidate.

If Palin is the R candidate, I'll vote I.

any more links to the video? we need to edit all the angles into 1 video that shows who stood when that piece of shit talked about the AZ law or a AWB. what fucking idiot, it would be so much easier for the drug cartels to get arms from chavez, many southern places, etc. they are probably just shipping them in shipping containers on large ships and then paying off the dock "investigators" to look the other way while a few containers leave w/out a look at. what a fucking joke this has become, and for our pres/house/congress to give calderon that real estate to speak from is disgusting.

look at the prices for f/a weapons - http://www.usautoweapons.com/cat/109/Machineguns

don't think the drug cartels are paying that kind of money when they can get them much cheaper other areas or just get them from mexico's corrupt military/leo officers.

Not sure if I can bring myself to vote for Palin lol

I guess it depends on what the congress and house look like in 2012. Last thing I want to do is give the entire govt back to republicans.

I've long thought that the progressives want for America what Mexico has, just with better health care. Mexico has a small core of very wealthy people, a fairly small true middle class (many of whom are mid to upper level government), and a very large lower to lower middle class. (Mexico also has a fairly large underclass, but I don't think the progressive want THAT.) Turning our society into a two class system (wealthy and near-wealthy government and other privileged types versus a huge and comparatively flat lower class) would solve a lot of "problems" for the progressives. First, the wealthy wouldn't have to deal with upstarts moving into their realm, except for athletes and entertainers. Second, eliminating wealth separation would make it easier to divide and conquer by race, sex, sexual orientation, etc. as other factors like tax rate and education would be minimized. Third, it would make it more easy to disarm the populace, as there would be a more clear separation between the privileges of the upper class and the more restricted privileges of the lower class. Fourth, consumption would go way down as there would be less disposable income, so we would "save the planet." (Consumption by the upper class would go up, but there would be fewer of them.) And fifth, everyone would get some sort of government bennie they wouldn't want to give up, so the progressives wouldn't have to worry much about the proles voting for people who want to cut taxes and spending.

BTW, the term "assault rifle" came to be to differentiate between relatively light, rapid-firing weapons firing cut-down rifle cartridges, heavier and less handy battle rifles firing full powered rifle cartridges (like .30-06 or 7.62x51mm), and submachineguns firing pistol cartridges. The cartridges (like the Russian 7.62x39mm or NATO 5.56x45mm) used less powder and sometimes lighter bullets than conventional battle rifle cartridges which gave them much less recoil, especially when fired on automatic, and allowed many more rounds to be carried in the assault, but still had much more lethality than pistol caliber rounds. So the term "assault rifle" denotes a rifle firing a reduced power cartridge, and since civilian versions are limited to semiautomatic fire they are actually less lethal than many conventional hunting rifles.

I'm ashamed that our President would allow this guy to lecture our Congress on what they should be doing. And worse, our Congress applauded him! I can't believe it.

I think that Mrs. "Drill Baby, Drill's" primary chances got hurt by the BP oil spill... not like she stood much of a chance to begin with.

shit happens, and the bp spill while tragic, to me didn't make a bit of difference w/ my opinion of palin. personally never thought she had a chance and also she is making too much $$ to go back into public service.
