Well my Blockbuster has 5 copies of Metroid Prime for GameCube (NEW) for $19.99. This is unadvertised and not available on the website. Call your nearest BlockBuster and ask them to do a price check!!

Unfortunately I followed your advise and the rep confirmed there were two in stock, put me on hold and then proceeded to tell me they were no longer in stock. My feeling is he and his coworkers helped themselves to the copies once I made them aware of it. I should have just walked into the store.

Same thing happened here in the Blacksburg Blockbuster. Had 3 in stock, then went down to none in stock while I'm on the phone with them.

Went to local blockbusters and found that one store had it listed for $19.99, but didn't have any in stock. Another store had it in stock, but at the regular $49.99 price point. According to the store manager, the $19.99 price is the price Blockbuster buys them for, then when they get it in stock, it moves to the regular selling price of $49.99. I threw a fit, so they gave it to me for $19.99.

Thanks! Now I have Metroid Prime, Mario, Zelda (promo cd) all still brand new...haven't had time to even open them yet

Need time to actually play my gamecube.

Garden Grove (Orange County, CA) has 15 copies at $19.99, Los Alamitos has 9 copies, but at $49.99. I wouldn't worry about calling messing this up. I had to spell Metroid to both of the employees.

BB managers cannot "up" the price. The price is set by corp and they can only charge the price that is in the computer. If some manager told someone that $19.99 is what BB pays for them, then they are lying. You were most likely talking to a MOD (Manager on Duty or Shift Leader) who don't know anything compared to an actual store manager. Store managers are only there usually during the day. The price should be $19.99 at every store. If they say the price isn't $19.99 ask to see the screen when they status it. It will be $19.99 and will show the amount in the store.

Visited my local last night and they had most (if not all) of the titles from the website. The titles were all clearly labeled with the sales prices and the staff were aware of the price change. When they fetched the games from the back room they had full retail price tags on them, but they rang up at the sale price so the sales monkeys can't mess it up.
Best part of it all? You get a coupon for a free game rental on the front of the game!

2 games + 2 rentals = $40. Nice!
Now I just need to get a Gamecube.

I wasn't specifically talking about any particular chain's pricing prctices.

As a general rule at most retailers tho, managers can and do up prices, especially if they think there may be a mistake.

I can verify this in Colorado--snapped up a copy at 19.99--now, to buy that gamecube---hmph...that Zelda bundle is looking a bit prettier even with the looming? pricecuts...

Marked at 19.99 on the shelf--clerk seemed surprised, so I would be doubtfull you'd will find any left, however, there are lots of blockbusters around...and for those that do find a copy--be good citizens and keep them off ebay, don't buy thirty copies each--

Riverside/Corona have 5+ in each store. I get the feeling that some of the employees are fairly out of touch as one kept calling it "that stupid Sega game" I can't wait to be old and grumpy...
