Metro PCS - good network to switch to?

It looks like they have an unlimited data/calls/text for $60 a month. Is their network decent? Is switching an unlocked phone over to them fairly easy? Any catches/significant things to worry about?

Can't vouch for exact quality, but it's T-Mobile's network -- if that carrier's network is good in your area, MetroPCS will be good as well. Just don't be surprised if T-Mobile gets some network features first.

I have a friend that uses them. He seems generally happy with them except for one thing...their "visual voicemail" seems flakey as hell. He will often not get notices of new messages until a couple hours after they are left and sometimes not at all. I am just talking about the notifications. If he manually checks the app and tells it to refresh, the messages will usually appear.

At first glance it seems like a phone problem (it is a phone he got through Metro PCS) but they have been unable to come up with a solution.

I did a search on the problem and saw others were also talking about it. It doesn't seem limited to a particular phone.

Metro works well, I used them for a while before switching to tmobile. If you have good tmobile coverage in your area then metro will be the same.

I had metro and it was great. Exact same coverage as T-mobile since they are one company.
Unlimited $30 if you use their free phone. Unlimited $60 if you bring your own unlocked phone. I switched to cricket cause I can use my unlocked for $35

My Mom and brother are on Metro here in SE Mich. The network is OK at best. Kind of hit and miss at time though. I recommend given Cricket a serious look.
