rofl the "optimum" setting is a card that isnt even available. Wonderful marketing BS.
This game looks worse than crysis and yet requires more powerful hardware, what does that tell u about the coding? nuff said.

It tells me nothing about the coding but it does beg the question... do you need glasses or have we been looking at different screenshots/trailers? :)

From the looks of what I have seen, Metro 2033 looks better graphically but the art direction in Crysis (location mainly) lends itself better to 'looking good'.

A sunny beach is more attractive than a run down, undergound, post apocalyptic building, no?

How can you have a video game sequel which has a graphics engine which looks wonders better than the original, and not be more demanding than the original game?

Have you seen screenshot comparisons between Crysis and Crysis 2? It's like comparing Metal Gear Solid 2 to Metal Gear Solid 4.

I don't think you have...

I'm very active in the mod community. I'm on incrysis.com and crymod.com everyday. I've seen all the screenshots, concept art, videos, etc. I'm anxiously awaiting the new Sandbox Editor.

It doesn't look that much better. Refined? Yes. Mind Jarringly better? No. Is that a bad thing? No, because most systems couldn't play Crysis in all it's glory, and since they've refined CryEngine3 to be more efficient, it should make the glorious graphics more accessible for everybody.

The huge difference is the Jungle vs City environment. Since you are in the city, the viewable world is much more restricted, which means the engine has to render less, saving tons of memory, etc. Crytek has openly said this makes a huge impact on performance.

Check out some of the city screenshots from Crysis 2.

Have YOU seen comparisons? Crysis 2 doesn't really look any better than Crysis/Warhead. They're no longer trying to push the envelope like they did with the first game; keep in mind this game's even coming out on consoles. Kinda saddens me really - I wanted something so incredibly advanced that even a 5870/GTX480 would barely be able to run it with all the settings turned up.

Yep, Crysis 2 is all about gameplay. They refined the graphics, offer some better lighting processes (global illumination ftw), and pretty much otherwise focused on making the engine more efficient, able to render down to console quality, making the editor easier to use, and on the game itself, increasing gameplay value.

There are ways you can kill that card now with Crysis. You just need to get into the config file and start cranking stuff up. The engine is way overbuilt. With most systems, you really have to pick and choose from the menu of graphical subroutines that this engine offers, not run them all at once. things like shadowing/draw distance/aa etc. etc. etc.

Metro 2033 runs surprisingly smooth on a Q6600, 8800GT combo (waiting for my ECS GTX275 to return from RMA).

I have been playing metro 2033 today with DX11 enabled, 1680x1050 ATI 5770
Tessellation really is the biggest thing to change gaming in a long time. The creatures are just amazing with tessellation enabled. All the blocky heads and rough edges are gone.

Downside of course is performance could be better. The system I am using isn't the latest thing . Q6600 , 8GB ram, Win7 x64, nothing overclocked or tweaked really so it is all stock. With tessellation enabled it stays around 20fps which is really too low for my liking. Still it is one pretty game with everything enabled.
