What are some of your methods to stay awake once you hit that limit of 18+ hours?

1) I drink pop drinks with lots of caffine. This can only happen for a limited time though, because the stomach gets very irrarated.
2) throw water on my face.

jolt cola...double the amount of caffine compared to regular cola..works for me when I do roadtrips that require me to be awake for 48hrs+

When I've been up that long, my eyes often get red and dry (makes me want to close them :p), so eye drops help somewhat, as far as at least being able to actually keep your eyes open.

Other than that...caffeine doesn't really work too well for me (although it has kept me awake on a few cross-state road trips). The main thing is just not to get too comfortable...

also lots of stupid activities like trying to knock over mailboxs and garbage bins, will keep you on your toes as well

I used to be able to stay up for stretches like that (not as long as 62 hours, but at least two days) - generally, I can't make myself care enough to do that anymore though. :)

I am working on you, I will have 48 hours at 10:00 this morning, its now 6 here. I will not get to sleep until probaly tomarrow morning. so I think i am going to push about 72 before I get some shut eye!!!

Lots of caffeen for me, need to keep your mind stimulated, thats the key, I play video games that keep it in a stimulation state, I tax my brain with computer repair stuff, and type on forms such as this to keep my fingers awake, I also streach cause that seams to get blood moving. BLOOD MOVING, you have to keep your heart pumping, if you do that your brain will recharge a bit with the O2 going to it. I seguessting that you dont drive in a state of sleeplessness that extends over 24 hours, between the road hipnosis and the relaxation that your body surcomes to it makes it a very bad place to be!

Definitely...a few months back I was driving from San Antonio back to College Station at around 2am (~165 miles)...had been up all day and probably only got three hours or less of sleep the previous night). At one point I was starting to see things in the road that weren't there....freaky sh!t, let me tell you. I'm certainly not doing that again. :Q

I was even driving with the CD player at pretty high volume, and sunroof/windows open to get cold air blowing at me...it was so hard to stay awake. And in retrospect I really should have just pulled over for a bit, either to walk/jog around a bit, buy a soda if I could find any place open (very unlikely in the middle of nowhere), or even just take a little nap in the car. There comes a point where your body just says "fvck you, I'm going to sleep!"...

short nap,works for me,

If I am stuck at work; due to a snowstorm,
I will at times park the truck and take a 10 min nap.
Safer than crashing into a parked car,or a person. ;)
