Method soap says that its job is to get hands clean, not kill germs because if its killing germs on your hands its probably not good for your hands.

Does that sound like a good idea to you?

using antibacterial soap is irresponsible unless you're about to go into surgery.

It's a great idea.

The use of anti-bacterial stuff severely weakens your immune system and actually makes you get MORE sick, MORE often. It's pretty well known that germofreaks get sick much more often than normal people.

AB soap kills germs leaving your hands germ free but allowing bacteria to build up resistance.

Non-ab soap is a pure emulsifier and washes the germs off your hands leaving your hands germ free without strengthening bacterial resistance to AB.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Just fyi, this isn't specific to Method, you can get most any soap brand in a form that isn't antibacterial afaik, but I guess I don't really look at many brands when I buy soap :p

My parents buy this stuff. I buy what ever is cheapest at Meijers (usually Meijer brand).

If you had a good comprehension of how many bacteria are living on your hands, you would either bath in benzene or realize that hot water and a good scrub with good old soap is all you really need to limit your exposure to the really filthy stuff.

If that makes you rationalize why you don't wash your hands after you take a shit, that's sad.

Exactly. All of those anti-bacterial products they sell these days make me cringe.

there is good bacteria and bad bacteria. heck there is bacteria in your mouth and stomach to help you digest food. I would be surprised if there wasn't a beneficial bacteria on our skin.

Not so much as weaking your immune system as causing germs to evolve stronger.

MRSA and the like are products of our antibiotic happy world added to the fact that no one lets their kids play with other kids.

Not using AB soap and not washing your hands are completely different things. Are you having trouble with this? We can help.

There isn't much difference between antibacterial soap and non-antibacterial soap. Both kill bacteria. The makers of antibacterial soap spent money on studies to show their soap kills bacteria, that's all. Antibacterial soaps don't contain antibiotics.

I was really just interested in the way they marketed it in the link. There's no mention of the reason they aren't using it, they are just calling it all organic and saying that anti-bacterial soap sucks. I was wondering weather or not this ad puts the proper message across.

I know the situation with anti-bacterial soap and I understand that we're making super bacteria when they adapt every time we introduce something worse. But we do want germ free hands, don't we?
