i don't think it will go away...it won't here...its too easy to make and the profit margin is too high
I was thinking the same damn thing! The REAL pour souls are all the damn children suffering at the hands of their irresponsible parents cooking up this crap in their home!

Is this sh!t similar to E? When they say "meth" - that's lumping in a whole bunch of different drugs right? Educate me.

It's a big problem here in Nebraska, too. I had one buddy who ended up moving to upstate New York to get away from it so he could stay clean.
I think around here you're either limited to getting two packs of cold medicine at once or they check into you if you get more than that, I can't remember.

Kids in small towns around here are doing this crap. When we were growing up the craziest thing you could get your hands on, if you knew the "right" people, was some LSD or mushrooms. That was PLENTY crazy - I wouldn't want to be any more whacked out than I've seen people on that shtuff.
Of course there is pot everywhere these days. I'm waiting to see what exactly the legal system is planning to do on the issue of decriminalization. Right now I believe it is only considered a misdemeanour (sp?) if someone is caught with 15 grams or less of pot. Any more than that and I think you are looking at a possession charge. Mind you, 15 grams is quite a bit of weed although I don't think it is enough to be "selling".
Not trying to make this into a seedy drug discussion - I know it is frowned upon here, but just giving you my take.

Methamphetamine
Ecstacy is 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. It's got two extra oxygens and a carbon together on the side opposite that HN area.
From what I know..which is not a lot, Methamphetamine (aka: Speed, Ice, Meth, Crystal, Crystal Meth, Crank, Fire, Glass, Ice, Rock Candy, etc) is a fairly general term...there are several different forms that can be smoked, snorted, injected, or orally ingested.
The attractiveness of it is that it's so easy to make...just throw a bunch of household crap together and voila...meth. I work in a pharmacy, and just yesterday, my pharmacist said that we couldn't special order Propylene Glycol (often used for soaps and stuff) for anyone anymore because it was being used to make meth...he found this fun little fact out after one of our customers had been trying to get about 7 pints of the stuff within the last week.
The sad thing is that I looked up the household's name in the computer and saw that they had a really young kid...so sad.
The town i grew up in had the 2nd worse meth problem in the united states. I've seen many a highschool kid lose their life on it. Auctually, it is the only drug i have never, and will never try.
Anyone who would trivialize and undermine the damnation that this drug causes is purely ignorant of it's effects not only on the user but everywhere else. If ever a drug would classify as evil, meth would be it. No, I wasn't educated on meth from some after school special or documentary, I have seen the effects first hand doing law enforcement work.

I had a good friend get caught up it thqat crap and he ended up in prison because of it. I remeber that last time I saw him before he got busted and I couldn't believe the low lifes he was hanging around. Not Bikers or Tough Guys but Tweekers who would rat out their mother to get a hit. He was ratted out by one of them.

Well, meth is schedule II, and pot is schedule I. Auctually, If i got fat enough, i could get a script for meth! I would then have to try it

Hey, well the FDA would disagree with you. A doctor could actually write a prescription for meth, but not for pot.
And that's because meth does have some good uses. Or when is the last time you took Sudafed or some other decongestant with psuedophedrine in it? Because that's the primary ingredient. Why else do you think they're passing all these laws where you have to buy psuedophedrine drugs from behind the counter?
For what it's worth, I think meth is disgusting, and won't ever even take anything that has psuedophedrine. But if we want to "win" the war on drugs, we better start thinking about employing different tactics, because what we've doing just keeps making it worse.

It may be schedule II right now, but it is not currently being used for medical purposes because there are better treatments available that are less habit forming and offer better long term results. My wife has worked in a hospital pharmacy for over 4 years and never has seen it perscribed. She has seen quite a few orders for cocaine for eye surgeries though.

Unless things have changed recently, fighter pilots on long night flights are given amphetamines.
The largest problem with street meth (besides the addiction) is that it is so dirty from being made in Goobers shed from paint thinners. If true medical amphetamines were available for the users (and addicts), they would at least have a better chance of surviving.
Believe me, they are not all just street junkies. Hell, most of them are trucking your goods across the country.
