Meteor shower oct 8-9

Weather seldom cooperates with meteor showers here. Likely won't for this one. From a sunny afternoon until 4PM we're expected to have partly cloudy to 9PM, then mostly cloudy.

I've tried quite a few times in the past to pick up on meteor showers. One time only did it really work for me and it was hands down the greatest astronomical experience I've ever had. A lunar eclipse is a yawner in comparison. I lay on the roof in sufficient clothing so I was comfortable and was astounded at the unexpected show in the sky. The variety was astounding, had no idea what to expect, from where it would come, what direction it would go, the color, size, speed, ... it must be 20+ years ago now.
